On December 11, 2021 senior lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages Aisultanova K.A., Aliyarova L.M., Tleugabylova Z.A. and Eselbaev Rauan, doctoral student of Nazarbayev University held an online round table talk on the topic “Astana International Financial Center”. The event was held among 1st year undergraduates and was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Master's students Maksatkyzy Asel, Tlektesova Aigerim, Erbaeva Aiganym, Elmurat Zhaina and Kurmangali Ernat spoke about the fact that the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) plays a key role as a regional center of business and finance, linking the economies of Central Asia, the Caucasus, the EAEU, Western China, Mongolia, the Middle East and Europe.
Taskaliev Arman, Beisembaev Kanat and Yeraly Aruzhan introduced the goals, structure and management of the AIFC. It was recalled that on May 20, 2015, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, announced the Plan of the Nation “100 Concrete Steps” to implement five institutional reforms, designed to provide a solid national platform to realize the country's aspirations to join the top 30 developed countries by 2050. Within the framework of the Plan of the Nation, the AIFC was created with a special legal status on the basis of the infrastructure of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017.
Temirgalikyzy Gulnur, Nurushev Chingiz, Kuanyshova Erkem, Amankeldy Damira told how to do business in the AIFC. They prepared a presentation giving an overview over the past 3 years. In 2019, the number of enterprises working with the AIFC increased to 235 companies from 26 countries of the world. These companies include financial institutions such as China Construction Bank, China Development Bank, CICC (Hong Kong) and Wood & Co (Czech Republic), the largest investment banks.
In June 2020, the number of companies working with the AIFC reached 500. These are companies from 35 countries. In the first half of 2020, the AIFC registered 122 new companies. It is noteworthy that 70 of them were registered during the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic
