"National consciousness and language: active processes"

"Professor's Hour" which provides the delivery of the lectures by the eminent scholars is held on the regular basis at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. On March 16 2021, at 15:00 p.m the lecture on the topic: "National consciousness and language: active processes" delivered by Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Salkynbay Anar Bekmyrzakyzy took place. Prof. Salkynbai’s research focuses on the history of the Kazakh language, the system of word formation, the relationship between language and culture, the importance of spiritual culture and the formation of a national worldview, and semantics of words. The scholar has published over 700 research papers, 10 monographs, 3 dictionaries, 19 textbooks.

During the lecture, Anar Bekmyrzakyzy provided scientifically substantiated information about the national consciousness, language consciousness, the relationship between national consciousness and language, the current law of the Kazakh language, the level of active processes in the modern Kazakh language, the status of the Kazakh language. The lecture allowed the audience to think deeply about the issue. The lecture was attended by professors, young researchers, doctoral students, undergraduates, students from Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Turkestan, Shymkent, Ural, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, South Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan universities, as well as by distinguished linguists from Turkey and Uzbekistan. Within the framework of the topic, students asked questions which were of on interest to them and received detailed answers. The participants of the lecture expressed their views on the topic of the lecture and thanked the scholar. The one-hour lecture lasted for three hours because it was relevant and interesting. 100 participants could listen to the lecture on the zoom platform and via the Facebook. The lecture received very high evaluations. It embodied great dreams and raised topical and important issues.
