The celebration of Nauryz, the great day of the nation, was held within the framework of the festive program "New Kazakhstan: values that unite the nation". This holiday was attended by well-known state and public figures, scientists, veterans of the faculty, teachers and students of kaznu. In 2023, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a new format for Nauryz, the great day of the nation. As for the features: this year, the guests not only celebrated a Nauryz, fed their bellies, but also organized national games and exhibitions, which were held one by one, glorifying different values. Within the same Exhibitions, The Faculty of Biology and biotechnology also presented a small exhibition. Colorful room flowers were placed in front of the biologists ' yurt, and on the other side were stuffed animals brought from the Museum of Biology, the pride of the Faculty of Biology, an eagle and an eagle. Our small exhibition pleased the guests. Talented students of our faculty played National Instruments and sang songs. Our students from near and far abroad, such as Iran, India, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, showed their skills and took turns dancing. Happy Kazakh nation nauryz holiday. On February 24, 2023, an "Open Door Day" was held in offline and online format, organized by the teaching staff of the "Biology and Biotechnology" faculty, to provide professional guidance to students. 55 students from 10 schools with their teachers came to the open day, 30 students from 5 schools took part in professional orientation, got acquainted with a lot of information about our university, and expanded their knowledge on the specialties of our faculty. On February 24, 2023 Amalova Akerke defended her thesis PhD-doctoral student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty "6D060700 - Biology" at the dissertation council of KazNU.

On February 17, 2023, a doctoral student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Sharakhmetov Sayat defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) on the topic: «Fish assemblages and state of fish populations in the Alakol watershed» in the specialty "8D08401 - Fish Industry and Industrial Fishery". The presented defense of the dissertation is the first in our republic in this specialty.

12 members of the dissertation council, 2 official reviewers, the domestic scientific adviser, Associate Professor of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Candidate of Biological Sciences Mamilov Nadir and foreign scientific adviser, leading researcher of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Institute of Biology of Inland Waters. I.D. Papanin» Levin Boris (Borok, Russia) took part in the defense. The defense was successful, the dissertation council highly appreciated the dissertation work and unanimously decided to award Sharakhmetov Sayat the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

International round table dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor K.A. Saparov On the topic: "Innovative aspects of the development of biological sciences"

On December 1, 2022, a round table "Innovative aspects of the development of Biological Sciences" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Kuandyk Abenovich Saparov. The round table was attended by: teachers of Al-Farabi KazNU and other universities, research Institute researchers, doctoral students, master students, undergraduate students. There are 46 people in total. The issues of biodiversity conservation and ecology were considered at the conference. Air, soil and water pollution, conservation of plant and animal species are an urgent topic for the present. In this regard, a large-scale conference in the field of bioecology was held. The teacher of zoology and PhD-student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, and The Junior Researcher at Institute of Zoology, Nazerke Bizhanova, participated in the 4th Executive Model OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation). The Model OIC included the lectures and seminars, international simulation conference and ended with an official Closing Ceremony.

Over 100 young representatives from more than 30 countries participated in the 5-day seminars international simulation conference of the 4th Executive Model OIC under the topic: “The Importance of International Cooperation to achieve Regional Development and Security”. The Ambassadors to Azerbaijan from the OIC member states – Palestine, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Algeria, as well as Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC), H.E. Mr. Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and many other international scholars, participated in the online lectures and the conference of the project and discussed important issues such as national development, international cooperation, sustainable development and ecological issues. During the lectures, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Serzhan Abdykarimov, talked about the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence, telling about the endeavours we made throughout the years and how far we have come, making our present day the era of progress and sustainable development for our country.
