Turkmen students' groups Biology 19-01 and 19-02 of the the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology held an informative festive event "May 1-Unity Day" On May 5 of 2021 year at 10.00 o'clock. Students congratulated the teachers and students of the Al – Farabi Kazakh National University on the Unity Day on May 1 at the event. Information was given about representatives of more than 130 nationalities living on the territory of Kazakhstan and students answered questions during the open lesson.

4th-year students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, A. Isabekova, P. Gumarova, A. Abdikerim, under the scientific leadership of Bagila Aidrovna Abdullayeva, PhD, took part in the International Scientific Conference "Pandemic Preparedness: Science and Countermeasures" organized by the Academy of Science of Pakistan. During the conference, students were able to find answers to their questions about the topic of their scientific papers, and also participated in the discussion of global scientific papers, reviews and new facts about the situation with the pandemic.

April 7 at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology KazNU named after Al-Farabi hosted the International Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Farabi Alemi". At the opening of the conference spoke the dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zayadan Bolatkhan Kazykhanovich. Then the reports were delivered in sections.The section actual problems of biology and biodiversity was led by the chairman: doctor of biological sciences, professor Kurmanbayeva Meruert Sakenovna , members of the commissions doctor of biological sciences, professor Mukhitdinov Nashtay Mukhitdinovich, doctor of biological sciences, professor Nurtazin Sabyr Temirgalievich, candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Mamilov Nadir Shamilevich, senior lecturer Zharkova Irina Maratovna. On March 2, we held an online educational event dedicated to the spring holiday and International Women's Day on March 8. Educational lesson "Мен қазақ қыздарына қайран қалам" was dedicated to our dear mothers, grandmothers. The events addressed the issues of educating Kazakh girls today, how a modern Kazakh girl should look, hair care, face care. The main attention was paid to the upbringing of the Kazakh girl. The event was attended by methodologists of the faculty, teachers of the department, teachers of the department of pedagogy, doctoral students and students. Also, during the event, issues of how a modern Kazakh girl should look like were discussed. The educational event was held at a very high level.

In honor of the 27th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a winter garden for students and teachers of the university was opened at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in 2018. The team headed by the head of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, M. S. Kurmanbayeva, took part in the creation of the winter garden, which today cooperates with extensive experience in creating a beautiful garden. The head of the department visited the winter garden and got acquainted with the conditions of the garden. Young specialists and teachers shared their plans for the future, said that they would contribute to the improvement of the garden.

1st year doctoral students of the specialty "8D05108-Geobotany" of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Kusmangazinov Adil and Sarkytbaeva Aisulu held an online educational event on the topic "The Internet, its benefits and harm" on April 01. The event was attended by teachers of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, teachers of the Department of Pedagogy, doctoral students and foreign students of the groups 19-09 and 19-10. During the event, information about the Internet was presented. In addition, in the form of presentations and videos, the benefits and harms of the Internet, the impact of the Internet on human life, as well as interesting facts about the Internet were shown. At the final stage of the event, questions were asked about the Internet, students actively participated and answered them. The educational event was held at a high level. On April 23, in Nur-Sultan, Astana International University (AIU) held an International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic: "Science and Education" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Day of Science Workers. At the opening of the conference, the President of the International University "Astana" Irsaliev Serik Aztayevich made a speech. Then the reports were heard in sections. 163 thesis were divided into 6 sections. The section "Conservation of biodiversity and rational use of natural resources for sustainable development" was chaired by the chairman of the conference: PhD, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of the Higher School of Natural Sciences Seitkan Ainur Seitkankyzy, members of the commissions, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Myrzagalieva Anar Bazarovna,, Avezova Ayman, Ph.D. Karipbaeva Nurziya Shaikenovna. 3rd year students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, took the 1st place: Zholdasbek Ayana, Akbolat Gaukhar, Gusmaulemova Alua, scientific supervisor: Orazov Aidyn Yergaliyevich. A meeting was held with students of the specialty “6b05102 Biology " with the participation of the dean and deputy deans, senior curator-adviser of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.
The meeting began with a concert program of students and continued with a congratulatory speech by the dean of the faculty – Zayadan Bolatkhan Kazykhanuly. During the concert program, students from Kazakhstan and abroad made sincere congratulations, performed kui, and read poems.

According to the results of an independent assessment carried out by the authoritative international rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was highly assessed and became the first and only university in the Central Asian region to receive "Five stars" of Excellence in the international "QS Stars Rating System".
The audit conducted by the QS British company evaluates universities in four key groups, which include 12 subgroups, consisting of more than 50 indicators, reflecting a wide range of university activities and its compliance with high international standards. The universities participating in the audit are awarded from one to five stars for each subgroup, and then subsequently an overall rating score is derived. Based on the results of a comprehensive assessment of QS on indicators as training, employment opportunity, research, internationalization, services, art and culture, innovation, modern languages, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University received the maximum "5 stars" score.
Assignment of the QS "Five stars" of Excellence means that Al-Farabi KazNU has a high international reputation and demonstrates leadership positions in the global scientific and educational space. The stars of excellence demonstrate the strengths of the university, highlighting the advantages and providing guidance to the partners, international experts in the field of education, both foreign and domestic applicants when choosing a university for education.
The QS Stars system provides an in-depth assessment with detailed descriptions and extensive data involvement. Such an audit allows the university to be assessed in a broader and more detailed way than in the framework of the annual ranking. Receiving the QS "Five stars", the university has gained another tool for promoting its educational programs and research, and therefore is increasing its competitiveness.
It is worth noting that there is no other university in Central Asia and Kazakhstan that has QS "Five Stars" except Al-Farabi KazNU.
Only 62 universities of the world have QS "5 Stars", among them are Harvard University, Oxford University, Cambridge University, University of Chicago, Princeton University, Columbia University that are in the world top 5, top 10 and top 20 of the international global QS WUR ranking.
