Master students of HSEB completed a scientific internship at Oxford University

The group of masters degree students of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, consisting of 26 people, successfully completed a scientific internship at the University of Oxford, which is a top university according to world rankings.

During the period from March 27 to April 7 in the framework of the program “Introduction to Science week”, students got a chance to take part at the scientific internship organized by the School of Geography and the Environment of the University of Oxford. According to the organizers, the "Introduction to science week" is the result of the growing cooperation between Oxford University and the Kazakh National University.

In accordance with the internship program, the lecture topics covered a wide range of issues. In addition to presentations and discussions related to current environmental issues, students gained experience as researchers, developed skills to carry out their own work.

A total of 23 lectures were given by professors and DPhil students of the University of Oxford. The intensive program included not only the development of the theory, but also its application in practice. The students presented their own research works, the topics of which ranged from the issues of translation studies to the latest discoveries in the field of physics, which made it possible to look from a new angle at previously unusual things.

There was also conducted some laboratory tours, where the representatives of the University of Oxford clearly demonstrated the current achievements, which caused interest among the students of KazNU. Also, students of Kazakh National University got an access to one of the famous libraries of the University of Oxford, where they could receive information regarding their current research.

On the last day of the internship, there was organized a round table, so that the students could express their opinions and ask questions of interest. Both representatives of the University of Oxford and students of the Kazakh National University received invaluable experience. We hope that such an exchange will serve to further development of the relations between Oxford and KazNU.
