The teacher of zoology and PhD-student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, and The Junior Researcher at Institute of Zoology, Nazerke Bizhanova, participated in the 4th Executive Model OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation). The Model OIC included the lectures and seminars, international simulation conference and ended with an official Closing Ceremony.

Over 100 young representatives from more than 30 countries participated in the 5-day seminars international simulation conference of the 4th Executive Model OIC under the topic: “The Importance of International Cooperation to achieve Regional Development and Security”. The Ambassadors to Azerbaijan from the OIC member states – Palestine, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and Algeria, as well as Mr. Elmaddin Mehdiyev, Director General of the Eurasian Regional Center of ICYF (ICYF-ERC), H.E. Mr. Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and many other international scholars, participated in the online lectures and the conference of the project and discussed important issues such as national development, international cooperation, sustainable development and ecological issues. During the lectures, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Serzhan Abdykarimov, talked about the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence, telling about the endeavours we made throughout the years and how far we have come, making our present day the era of progress and sustainable development for our country.

The project was organized by ICYF-ERC in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan (https://icyf-erc.org/, https://www.facebook.com/icyferc/ and www.mys.gov.az).

Nazerke Bizhanova, as well as five other participants were awarded for their outstanding performance during the project.

1st-year doctoral student and lecturer of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Adil Kusmangazinov was awarded the badge "Best Young Scientist of the CIS-2021" and a letter of thanks at the international conference "Education and Science of the XXI century", organized by the International Center for Sports, Education and Science "Genius" for participation in the project "Best Young Scientist among the youth of the CIS". The collection of books of young scientists of the CIS, includes the autobiography of a young scientist. Scientific supervisor: Head of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Meruyert Kurmanbayeva. A 2nd year PhD-student of the Department of Biodiversity and Biological Resources, Nazerke Bizhanova completed a project on the topic: “Population and conservation status of the Turkestan lynx (Lynx lynx isabellina Blyth, 1847) in the Kazakh part of the Northern Tien Shan”. The project was funded by the Rufford Foundation (Rufford Small Grants for Nature Conservation).

Members of the research group: Nazerke Bizhanova, PhD-student at al-Farabi KazNU and Junior Researcher at the Institute of Zoology, Project Leader; Alexey Grachev, Head of the Laboratory of Mammalogy at the Institute of Zoology; Yuri Grachev, Leading Researcher of the Institute of Zoology; Saltore Saparbayev, Researcher at the Almaty Nature Reserve and the Institute of Zoology; Erlik Baidavletov, Researcher at the Institute of Zoology and the Ile-Balkhash Natural Reserve; Sergei Bespalov and Maxim Bespalov, senior laboratory assistants and field experts at the Institute of Zoology.

Thanks to the project, it became possible to study the rare subspecies of the Eurasian lynx in more detail. These studies are part of Nazerke Bizhanova’s doctoral thesis on the topic: “Distribution and subspecies diagnosability of the Turkestan lynx (Lynx lynx isabellina Blyth, 1847) in the Northern Tien Shan”.

2nd year PhD student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University Bizhanova Nazerke Alimkyzy became one of the best young scientists among the youth of Commonwealth of Independent States! She was awarded a badge for her contribution to the development of science. The Best Young Scientist project was organized by the International Centre for Sports, Education and Science “Genius”. On April 23, in Nur-Sultan, Astana International University (AIU) held an International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic: "Science and Education" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Day of Science Workers. At the opening of the conference, the President of the International University "Astana" Irsaliev Serik Aztayevich made a speech. Then the reports were heard in sections. 163 thesis were divided into 6 sections. The section "Conservation of biodiversity and rational use of natural resources for sustainable development" was chaired by the chairman of the conference: PhD, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Dean of the Higher School of Natural Sciences Seitkan Ainur Seitkankyzy, members of the commissions, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Myrzagalieva Anar Bazarovna,, Avezova Ayman, Ph.D. Karipbaeva Nurziya Shaikenovna. 3rd year students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, took the 1st place: Zholdasbek Ayana, Akbolat Gaukhar, Gusmaulemova Alua, scientific supervisor: Orazov Aidyn Yergaliyevich. The materials were prepared as part of the final qualifying work (diploma work). Congratulations to the leader and students with prizes.

On October 23, 2020, the city of Nursultan hosted an award ceremony for the best in the field of "conservation of forestry and protection of wildlife", organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Among the best applicants was our 1st-year doctoral student, specialty "8D08401-fisheries and industrial fishing" Tursynali Marlen. Tursynali Marlen-a leading specialist in the aquaculture industry of Kazakhstan, a business entrepreneur, was awarded the Republican award "Elim-AI" in the category "Best fish breeder".

Currently Tursunali Marlene works tirelessly to aquaculture development in Kazakhstan. This is evidenced by the current success of Marlena, which operates several farms in unity and paves the way for many young people who want to work in this industry.

The Department staff sincerely congratulate Marlene on receiving the Republican award "Elim-AI"! I wish him good health, great creative success and prosperity in his work and science!
