On April 14, 2018, the Medical Faculty of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi held a regular meeting of the Journal Club, which was the third in this academic year.
Participants of the Journal Club participated in the critical analysis of the article, because one of the fundamental elements of the critical thinking style of all students is the ability to assess the degree of reliability and significance of the information offered.
Results of the "1st Kazakhstan Olympiad on Hygiene and Epidemiology"
On April 10, 2018, the third round was held and the results of the 1st Kazakhstan Olympiad on Hygiene and Epidemiology were summed up. In the third round, 6 students participated.
The jury heard the scientific reports of the participants:
1. Amangeldinova Damira, a 4th-year student of the specialty OZ of the GMU of Semey. Topic:
"Comparative approach to the teaching process in secondary schools and the gymnasium of the city of Semey."
2. Urumzhanova Sambat, a fourth-year student of the OZ, GMU of Semey. Topic: "Studying the actual nutrition and nutritional status of students".
3. Shlumbaev Nurlan, a 5th year student of the OZ, KSMU of Karaganda. Theme of the report: "Hygienic aspects of working conditions of workers of the mining industry".
4. Bainazarova Ainur, a fifth-year student of the Oz S.Z. Asfendiyarov KazNMU.. Theme of the report: "Evaluation of the influence of nutrition on the medical conditions of medical students".
5. Qadir Akerke, a fourth year student of the Oz Al-Farabi KazNU.. The theme of the report is "Actual problems of immunization of infectious diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
6. Shykhyskhan Aizhan, a fourth-year student of the Oz Al-Farabi KazNU. Theme of the report: "Assessment of the incidence of tuberculosis in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
On 3rd round I took 1st place Shlyumbaev Nurlan.
Master class of Professor Nurlan Dauletbaev from the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. All members of the Department of Politics and Health Care Organization take part in the master class: "Biomedical scientific publications". The master class discussed such issues as types of scientific publications: abstracts of scientific conferences, original publications, system reviews and meta - analyzes, review articles and editorial articles.

The medical faculty of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi invites you to take part in the discussion of the scientific article “ Iris colour in relation to myopia among Chinese school‐aged children ” at the second meeting of the Journal Club, which will be held on April 14, 2018 (Saturday) at 14.00 on the 1st floor (conference hall) of the Medical Faculty. Master of Science and Education (specialty - public health) Mukazhanova Aynagul, will present an article on the relationship of the development of myopia with the color of the iris in children..
