On March 30, 2019 (Saturday) at 11.00 in the meeting room on the 1-st floor of the Faculty of Medicine and Health of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will be held the eighth meeting of the scientific circle "Journal Club", where we learn to interpret the data based on reliable scientific results.

At the meeting of the Journal Club with a PhD- student of the scientific and pedagogical direction of the 1-st course Abilova G. we will carry out a critical analysis of the scientific publication «Influence of Nasogastric Tubes on Swallowing in Stroke Patients: Measuring Hyoid Bone Movement With Ultrasonography». 

One of the most dangerous complications of a stroke is a violation of swallowing (dysphagia). To prevent aspiration, exhaustion and dehydration, the primary task of a physician in the management of such patients is to organize a careful and at the same time full feeding and fluid intake. This article presents the results of a study of the effect of the introduction of a nasogastric tube on the function of swallowing in stroke patients.
