On January 22, 2019, the reporting meeting of the dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi Kalmatayeva Zh.A. with the professors and teachers of the faculty was held with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Khikmetov A.K.

After discussing the report on the activities of the faculty for the first half of 2018-2019, work plans for the second half of the year, the potential and prospects for the development of the faculty were determined. Traditionally, medical personnel in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as in most countries of the post-Soviet space, are trained in specialized medical universities. But today, the level of development of technological processes and the achievement of science, the emergence of new diagnostic and treatment opportunities require the training of medical personnel and health care professionals with multidisciplinary knowledge from various fields of natural and technical sciences, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bio and nanotechnology, bioinformatics, mathematics and other branches of science. And this in turn requires the resources of a multidisciplinary university, with strong scientific support and strategic partnership of the international community.

Therefore, in December 2015, the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, in an effort to contribute to the development of the health care system and medicine in Kazakhstan and reach the world level in the life sciences in the near future, opened the 15th Faculty - Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Today the faculty has 387 students, 65 undergraduates in the scientific and pedagogical field, 114 undergraduates in the core field, 12-1.5-year undergraduates, and 16 PhD-doctoral students. The faculty develops new educational programs, new disciplines, due to the requirements of the time, the need to improve education in accordance with the needs of modern health care.
