Master class "Biomedical Scientific Publications" was held from April 9 to April 12, 2018. This master class was organized by the chair of biomedical statistics and evidence-based medicine. The master class was aimed to increase the publication activity of the faculty and young scientists in international peer-reviewed journals.

Publication activity is an indicator of scientific performance. At present, a large scale social project aimed at promoting the publication activities of the scientific community is being carried out under the motto “Publish or perish!.” Scientific publication activity is presently understood as work performed by scientists in order to publish their articles in scientific journals and be cited by other scientists.

To date, the increase of publication activity is a burning and very topical problem, which requires an almost immediate solution. The first step in solving this problem was the invitation of Professor Nurlan Dauletbaev (Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada), an expert in basic research, translational and personalized medicine and Aigerim Akbolat the deputy head of the scientific and technical expertise department of the “ National Center of Science and Technical Evaluation “.

During the master class, issues such as scientific literature databases, access to international databases for kazakh scientists, work with scientific literature, hypothesis statement, hypothesis and non hypothesis research (whether it exists or not), the process of writing the original article, the journal selection, interaction with the publisher, reviewers of articles, types of review were touched upon. Also, practical training sessions were held. During these lessons young scientists made attempt to write an article on a given topic, after all papers were sent by e-mail to the professor, then they received response from professor in the form of a review followed by an error correction instruction. Upon completion of the master class, young scientists have gained invaluable experience and honed their writing skills.
