On September 3, 2020, on the Zoom platform, a meeting was held with freshmen of the International Relations Faculty as part of the orientation week. At a meeting with freshmen, Head of the Committee of Youth Organizations of Al-Farabi KazNU Nursultan Bolatuly acquainted with the rules of the Code of Honor of KazNU students and the Regulations for student of KazNU. Also during the meeting, the freshmen got acquainted with the group advisors and the senior adviser of the IRF.

June 18, 2020 was the defense of master's theses in international law.

On May 30, 2020 at 10.00 p.m., the Department of International Relations and the World Economy held an annual traditional Alumni meeting using an innovative format via online the ZOOM app.

Among the invited participants there were the Anniversary graduates of the specialties “International Relations”, “World Economy” and “Regional Studies who left 20, 15, 10, 5 years ago. The meeting was moderated by the head of the Department of International Relations and the World Economy Mr. E. Chukubaev

On may 30, 2020, on the last Saturday of may, the traditional "alumni Day" was held at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The Department of international law held an online meeting of graduates dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the birth of Abu Nasr al-Farabi. The event brought together about 30 graduates who at various times graduated from the specialty "International law".

Moderator of the event - head of the Department of international law, PhD, Professor Zh.T. Sairambaeva noted in her welcoming speech that the purpose of the event is to strengthen and develop friendly and business contacts.

The ceremonial part of the event began with the student anthem "Gaudeamus" and congratulations of the rector of al-Farabi KazNU Academician Mutanov G.G. Also the Chairman of the constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the alumni Association of KazNU, doctor of law, Professor Mami K. A. addressed the graduates with a video greeting.

During the meeting of graduates were presented a presentation about the achievements of the University and the Department of international law. The history of formation and development of the Department was told by Ph.D., associate Professor Mashimbayeva G.A., showing memorable photos of graduates of different years of graduation and colleagues, which caused pleasant emotions and memories in the audience.

In addition, the meeting listened to the video greetings of the graduates of the faculty of international relations: First Deputy Permanent representative of Kazakhstan to the UN of Isetov A., State inspector of the administration of the President of Kazakhstan Kairbek M., Director of the International Law of MFA of the Republic Kazakhstan Zhumakanov N., Director of  Republican scientific practical center "Daryn" Boranbay A., Chief consultant of the Department of legislation in the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Akhmetov E., Senior lawyer of “Ernst&Young Kazakhstan” Abdukarimov A. and others.

The graduates expressed their warmest and most grateful wishes to the teachers and further prosperity of their Alma mater. Each graduate has their own life path, but every year they find time to meet again with teachers and classmates.

The meeting of graduates showed the need for such events in the future. The warm atmosphere filled the audience with positive energy for a long time, because the student years for each of us are the most unforgettable, the warmest, the best…

This year has become special for our alma mater - Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. It is marked by international events in connection with the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi, whose name is worthy of the university.
One of the significant events of the anniversary year is a university-wide holiday - the Day of graduates of KazNU. It is held annually on the last Saturday of May and this year falls on the 30th. Preserving and developing the traditions of the university, and also taking into account the difficult epidemiological situation in the country, Alumni Day is planned to be held in a new format - online.
The distance format of the Alumni Day is being tested for the first time, and we are confident that the thousands of teachers, students and graduates in such a difficult time as in previous years will once again show their solidarity around the values ​​of independent Kazakhstan and the importance of education, science, sports and culture.

April 23, 2020 at the Faculty of International Relations, KazNU al-Farabi held a round table discussion on the theme: “Agenda-2030 and the prospects for sustainable development of Kazakhstan: the ecological aspect”, organized by undergraduates Yu. Kim, J. Karbozova and G. Yermadov on the initiative of the Center for German Studies. Participants in the discussion were 3-year students of the specialty “International Relations”, among them were students from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, as well as teachers (prof. Gubaidullina M.Sh., associate professor. Isova L.T., associate professor. Kulbaev A.T.). The round table was also attended by experts currently working in foreign companies - Sibagat Aldiyarov (Tora Trading Services, Tokyo, Japan), Shiringul Karimova (Outreach Coordinator, American Space Almaty) and Altynay Meyerbekova (Université de Montpellier, France).
