           KAZNU CELEBRATED THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ACADEMICIAN

  Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a number of festive events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an outstanding mechanical scientist, a well-known state and public figure, a major organizer of science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR Umirbek Arslanovich Dzholdasbekov.Academician U. A. Dzholdasbekov is a unique person who laid the foundations for the development of higher education in Kazakhstan.

In 1970, at the age of 39, Umirbek Arslanovich was appointed rector of the largest and oldest university – the Kazakh State University named after S. M. Kirov. During the period of his leadership, the university became one of the best in the USSR and was recognized by the world community of universities. His name is directly connected with the new specialties and scientific directions that prepare students. Laboratories, departments, research centers and the National Engineering Academy of Kazakhstan were also created under the leadership of the scientist. In his time, a unique campus was founded and built – the KazNU campus, which became a symbol of students in Kazakhstan and a symbol of science and education in Kazakhstan in the world community.

Events related to the 90th anniversary of the academician began with the laying of flowers at the monument to the scientist in front of the Palace of Students named after Umirbek Dzholdasbekov, located in KazNU. The ceremony was attended by the university staff, relatives of the scientist, his students, state and public figures, and invited guests.

On 18 February 2021, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the Ministry for the Economic Development of the Russian Federation” hosted an international scientific-practical conference «Foreign economic activity in the post-covid period».

  The International Conference was held in online format at Zoom platform and was able to bring together over 70 participants from leading Russian institutions of higher education: scientists, researchers, doctoral and post-graduate students.

In the section of young scientists "Issues of legal regulation of foreign economic activity" with presentations of scientific reports made by doctoral and master students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, specialty "international law": PhD doctoral student Akhmetova A.A. "Legal aspects of ensuring food security in the field of grain", master students Seitkanova M.B., Talgatova K.S. "Protection of intellectual property in the digital economy", Smatayeva A.A. "Issues of legal regulation of trade agreements in the field of electronic commerce". Scientific research was prepared within the framework of the WTO and ICC Centre of the International Law Department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

According to results of conference it is planned to publish the Collection of materials, indexed by scientific base RSCI.

Levaeva - Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the Ministry for the Economic Development of the Russian Federation, all speakers, moderators of conference sections for high organizational level and professional approach in the organization of the conference and providing an interesting discussion platform for the sharing of experience.

Since 2021, the Faculty of International Relations, together with active students of the Faculty, has launched a weekly "IRD News short information and analytical" student project on the Youtube platform to analyze events and situations in world, international, and regional relations.

Today, on February 12, 2021, the Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University met with outstanding scientists of the university. The meeting was productive, and a constructive dialogue took place. 

On February 8, 2021, according to the established tradition, the meeting of the rector's office was held in an open online format. All employees of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University were able to see the open meeting live on the YouTube channel. Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Mutanov Galymkair Mutanovich reported on his activities over the past 10 years. During the report, the achievements of the university for 10 years were announced. He also spoke about the projects that will be implemented in the coming years. During the broadcast, the rector answered the questions and suggestions.

On January 20, 2021, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the 11th annual seminar of the school of curators-advisors, organized by the Department for Educational Work for curators of 1st courses. Teachers of the Faculty of International Relations also took part in the work of this school. The seminar was held in an online format, during which the strong-willed and motivational qualities of students, as well as technologies of self-development in the context of distance learning were discussed. The moderator was the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Mynbayeva A. K., who prepared a lot of useful exercises, tests for the participants of the seminar and shared materials for conducting such events in training groups.

The Department of International Law of the Faculty of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University congratulates the 4th year students of the specialty "International Law" Tasan Sayat, Abdullina Akmaral and Nigmetova Dilyara, who were awarded the scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and wishes them further success in their studies and new victories.
