International lawyer-specialist of the new formation

November 17, 2020, the Department of international law within the framework of the 30th anniversary of the Department and the 25th anniversary of the faculty of international relations held a debate on the topic : "international Lawyer - specialist of a new formation"

In the debate participated the teaching staff of the Department, undergraduates, doctoral students of the specialty "International law", as well as invited guest Zhumakanov Nikolay Vladimirovich, Director of international legal Department of the MFA of RK. 

  The main Goal of the dispute is to promote the direction of "international law" and the specialty of international lawyer.

The participants of the debate expressed their views on urgent issues concerning the specialization of international law and trends in the development of international law in Kazakhstan and its prospects in the world.

Students of al-Farabi Kazakh National University won the Republican Olympiad in International law.


On November 28, 2020, the Republican student Olympiad in International law was held on the basis of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. This year, the Republican subject Olympiad was held in an online format, due to the epidemiological situation in the world. However, this circumstance did not affect the quality of its implementation. Here it is worth noting the professional approach and high organizational level on the part of the organizers of the Olympiad-the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated. Each team consisted of five people.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to identify and support talented students, as well as to develop special professional abilities of future specialists.

The team, prepared by teachers of the department of international law of the faculty of international relations of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, was represented by the following students: Talgatova K., Erbolov D.,  Abdullina A., Mereke B.,  Abdykasym K. All of them are distinguished by high academic performance, organizational skills, and take an active part in all events held by the faculty of international relations of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The team's coach is doctor PhD Nysanbekova L. B.

Our team showed high results, passing all three rounds without any losses both on test tasks in the Kazakh language in the discipline "Public International law", and on solving cases in the discipline "Private International law", in addition, one of the rounds consisted of a blitz survey in English in the discipline "Public International law".

The results of the Olympiad were summed up by individual competition.

The first, second, and third place in the individual competition was won by students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University majoring in International law- Talgatova K. was awarded a first – degree diploma, Abdullina A. –a second-degree diploma, and  Mereke B.-a third-degree diploma. This was a pleasant, long-awaited surprise in honor of the anniversary of the department of international law and the faculty of international relations.

The next Olympiad will be held at the Faculty of international relations of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Meeting with first-year students of IRF

On September 4, 2020, on the Zoom platform, regular meeting was held with freshmen of the International Relations Faculty as part of the orientation week. Head of the Department of Diplomatic Translation of the IRF Seidikenova Almash Smayilovna explained to the freshmen the issues of choosing foreign languages ​​during the period of study. Also speakers at the meeting were: DAAD lecturer and German language teacher Thorsten Kaesler, and French and English lecturer, graduate of the University of Strasbourg Jeremy Lonjon.
