January 16, 2024 Department of International Law al-Farabi KazNU celebrated the 70th anniversary of associate professor Samaldykov Maksut Koshekovich. The event was attended by the dean, teaching staff, as well as students of the Faculty of International Relations.

During the event, acting Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Delovarova Leila Fedorovna on behalf of the rector of al-Farabi KazNU Zh.K. Tuimebayev presented Samaldykov Maksut Koshekovich with the medal “Eren enbegi ushin” and a Letter of Gratitude. Many warm words were addressed to the hero of the day; colleagues noted the significant scientific and professional contribution of M.K. Samaldykov in the training of young specialists in the field of international law and jurisprudence.

The Department of International Law sincerely wishes Samaldykov Maksut Koshekovich good health, happiness and success in his professional activities.

"Model UN - New Silk Road" is a large-scale international project for students and high school students, which is aimed at attracting the attention of young people to the global problems of our time, forming a vision of a holistic picture of the world, developing research skills, the ability to overcome conflicts through intercultural communication and dialog building.

On December 5, 2023, at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Switzerland to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Salman Bal held an ambassador hour for students and researchers on topic: "Why multilateralism matters?”.

What are the contradictions between a company’s main objective and a sustainable development strategy? All these issues were covered during the guest lecture of the Director of Corporate Relations and Sustainable Development of CCI Kazakhstan Company Alima Isembayeva on November 20, 2023 at Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On November 20, 2023, 2nd-year master students of the specialty International Relations, Dina Amanbayeva and Abek Malika, under the guidance of Laura Tanirbergenovna Isova, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Docent of the Department of International Relations and World Economy and Candidate of Historical Sciences, senior lecturer Almagul Tleuovna Kulbaeva, successfully held a round table on the topic "SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being".

On November 8, 2023, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Kazakhstan organized a roundtable discussion for scholars on the topic of "Current Issues in Teaching International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in Kazakhstan." The roundtable occurred in a hybrid format, with in-person participation at the premises of MNU (formerly the Kazakh Humanities and Law University) in Astana and online participation from universities in other cities. 

On November 11, 2023, the International Relations Faculty had the honor of hosting Dr. Christian Brauweiler, a distinguished expert in economics and the Head of the Department of Accounting, Control, and Audit at the WHZ University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau, Germany. The event, titled “Analysis of the Income Statement,” was organized as part of the World Economy educational program, with a focus on advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education.
