On April 08, the Department of Biotechnology organized and conducted an online career guidance event for 2- and 3-year students enrolled in the Biotechnology educational program. At the event, the head of the department A.S. Kistaubayeva was shown a presentation material, where she acquainted students with the teaching staff, scientific activities of the department. The Department of Biotechnology is one of the leaders in training specialists in the field of biotechnology of microorganisms and plants, nanotechnology, biochemistry, plant ecophysiology, bioinformatics and biomedicine.

Further, the faculty of the department made short reports, where they gave more detailed information about the area of ​​their scientific interest, areas of research and achievements.

The meeting continued in the Q&A format, during which students were able to get answers to all their questions.

Gaukhar KONUSPAYEVA, Professor of Food Technology at Al Farabi National University of Almaty, will be hosted at UMR Selmet at the Baillarguet premises for a 10-month stay from April 06, 2021 as a "Visiting Scientist". This stay is supported by a grant from the "Mak'it" program of MUSE. The stay will focus on “Camel milk technology and markets: a new frontier for sustainable food systems in the 21st century”. Several activities are planned which include the organization of an international workshop on the camel milk trade in October 2021. Manips on the transformation and characterization of camel milk are also scheduled in partnership with UMR Qualisud and IATE.

It is all known that this academic year the world, our country and the university has undergone many challenges. It is known that under the conditions of the global pandemic crisis, scientific internships for master’s students in foreign universities and organizations has been suspended since last year.

In the context of the global crisis, undergraduates of the faculty undergo scientific internships in online and offline formats not only in Almaty, but also in other regions and cities of the country on the basis of domestic scientific organizations in the field of biotechnology and biology. It should be noted that this is largely due to the close ties established by the departments with domestic scientific organizations, and agreements reached earlier.

In this regard, the leadership of the faculty and departments thanks all our partners - the scientific bases for passing the practices of our undergraduates and believes in strengthening and expanding relations.

I am Aynur Askerova, 1st year master's student of the specialty Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Within the framework of the scientific and pedagogical practice of undergraduates with the supervisor of the Candidate of Biological Sciences, associate professor Narmuratova M. Kh. The topics of lectures and seminars were agreed upon, a list of topical issues for their in-depth study was compiled, and the dates of classes were approved.

Currently, lectures and seminars were held on the «Zoom» platform in the discipline «Biochemistry» -according to the distance learning program in groups 19-01K and 19-02K of the specialty Physical Culture and Sports. During the lecture, feedback was established with the students, as many questions related to the new topic were asked after the lecture, as well as answers during the cognitive discussion. After reading the material, the students were given a task for a seminar session and offered a list of additional literature.

After the lectures and seminars, a meeting with the supervisor was held. During the meeting, the results of the classes were discussed, suggestions were made for working with errors and conducting classes.

The Department of Foreign Languages of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an online online scientific-practical conference for master students "Improving skills for professional development" on the platform Zoom. The conference of more than 70 young researchers from near and far abroad has become a platform for the exchange of ideas and scientific developments. The peculiarity of this event is that all speakers presented the results of their work in English.
