«Earthquake safety measures»

1/26/2024

January 25, 2024 teachers of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience Yesenova M.A. and Kulmurzaeva L.R. within the framework of SDG 11, a training seminar was held on the topic “Earthquake Safety Measures” with 1st year students of specialty 6B05109 - Neuroscience. The purpose of the training seminar held within the framework of SDG 11 was to provide first aid to those in need in the event of an earthquake, to help victims get out from under the rubble, to exercise maximum caution and evacuate the building as soon as possible, i.e. to another place.

An earthquake is a subterranean shock and subterranean movement that occurs as a result of a sudden movement or explosion in the earth's crust or the upper part of the mantle and spreads over a large distance in the form of a significant deviation.

An earthquake is the most destructive type of earthquake. It takes the first place in terms of economic losses, as well as the number of injured and killed.

Every year there are 100,000 earthquakes around the world, many of which are weak and can only be detected by seismographs. It is advisable to become personally acquainted with the secrets of strong earthquakes that are likely to occur in the future. It is necessary to read a lot of information about the causes of earthquakes, where they occur and how they spread. Secondly, the degree of preparedness of the population to avoid disasters should be high. Only if these conditions are met, earthquake disasters will not cause significant damage to human life and public wealth. In addition, exercises have been conducted to remember safety measures.

"It is necessary to investigate in order to preserve"

10/23/2023

On 19.10.2023, at the Department of "Biodiversity and Bioresources", a 1st-year doctoral student A.M. Baymukanova held a scientific seminar on the topic "It is necessary to investigate in order to preserve". The seminar was attended by doctoral students, undergraduates and students of the department. Asel Baymukanova, a doctoral student, shared her own scientific results of research on Caspian seals in the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea. The Caspian seal (Pusa caspica Gmelin, 1788) is the only marine mammal and endemic that lives throughout the Caspian Sea, from the coastal areas of the northern Caspian to the shores of Iran. Most of the seals concentrate on the north-eastern part of the sea, forming large deposits there, which persist until the ice age. The most crucial period of the seal's life takes place here, because it is biologically connected with the ice on which it reproduces and feeds its cubs, and also spends most of the molting period. At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of the Caspian seal was about 1 million individuals. The population of the Caspian seal has been in a depressed state since the mid-80s, and the number of seals has decreased to 450 thousand heads, currently the population is estimated at about 100-170 thousand individuals throughout the Caspian Sea.
