Suleiman Ifkhan oglu Allahverdiyev teaches doctoral students and undergraduates at the Department of Biotechnology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Suleiman Ifkhan oglu Allahverdiyev is the author of more than 600 publications, the citation index of works is more than 13336, the Hirsch index is 60.
S. I. Allakhverdiev studied the primary mechanisms underlying the functioning of the electron transport chain of photosystem 2, proposed energy and kinetic schemes of electron transfer during photosynthesis with the participation of feofitin (an intermediate electron acceptor FS 2), which were included in all textbooks on physical and chemical biology around the world. He also studied the molecular mechanisms of adaptation of the photosynthetic apparatus of plants to adverse environmental conditions using methods of physico-chemical biology, including DNA microchips.
Allahverdiev S. I. has the Award of the Society of Plant Biology of the Republic of South Korea for his contribution to the development and promotion of the international scientific journal Journal of Plant Biology (2013). According to the 2016 rating of the Thomson Reuters agency (Clarivate Analytics) (based on Web of Science data), S. I. Allakhverdiev was recognized as the most highly cited Russian researcher in the world in the field of biology.
In addition, in accordance with the rating, which is formed on the basis of citations in the Web of Science database (the most influential scientists in the world) for 2018, 2019 and 2020, Allahverdiyev S. I. entered the list of the most highly cited scientists in the world, which is 1% of the total number of scientists in the world. Allahverdiev S. I. was recognized as the first in the ranking of the most highly cited scientists in Russia and was awarded "Scopus Awards Russia 2018" and "Scopus Awards Russia 2019" in the category "Life Sciences", and was also awarded for his contribution and assistance to the development of science in the Republic of Azerbaijan (Web of Science Awards 2018).
Currently, under the leadership of S. I. Allakhverdiyev, a new direction of research in the field of nanobiotechnology is actively developing - a system of artificial photosynthesis using protein structures in order to obtain molecular hydrogen as an alternative energy source.
