SDG 2. ELIMINATING HUNGER - Educational event (discussion) on the topic: "The role of effective microorganisms on the path of organic farming".

Objective of the event: Expanding knowledge on the risk criteria for the use of GMOs or its positive impact, solving hunger eradication issues. To direct scientific interest to the problem of eliminating hunger and finding ways to solve the problem.

Expected results: The formation of scientific interest in the problem of hunger eradication and the search for solutions using biotechnological methods and the ability to analyze, systematize modern ideas about the biosafety of GMOs.

November 10, 2023, at 12.00 o'clock, in 416 aud. Mukhataeva K.A. and Ultanbekova G.D. conducted an educational event (discussion) on the topic with the 3rd year students of the specialty "06B05103 – Biotechnology": "The role of effective microorganisms on the path of organic farming". The event was held according to the schedule of the Roadmap of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology for SDG 2 – elimination of hunger.

K.A. Mukhatayeva made an introductory speech.

Then the students' reports were heard: "The role of effective microorganisms in agriculture", "Effective microorganisms as sustainable components in organic agriculture: principles, application and validity period", "Useful microorganisms for sustainable agricultural development", "Will the interaction of plants and microbes increase stress resistance in plants". After a series of reports, an active discussion unfolded on the topic of choosing measures for the development of the biotechnology market with organic agriculture and, in particular, the promotion of biological preparations for agriculture. Of particular interest were reports on the effectiveness of the complex use of various strains in microbiological preparations. A lively discussion also arose around the topic of recognizing environmentally friendly products purified with the help of biotechnologies. The students discussed with great interest the prospects for the development of agriculture, biotechnology, noting the problems that exist today, discussed the problems of the shortage of clean water, the feasibility of creating and using effective microorganisms in agriculture.
