Department of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation together with the Department of Biomedical Statistics and Evidence Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine - Higher School of Public Health of KazNU named after al-Farabi- - On December 14-15, 2017, the International Seminar on the "Principles of Classification in the Paralympic Sports" was held.

The seminar was conducted by Magomedova Ayshat Ullubievna, physician of the highest category in physiotherapy and sports medicine, sports physician of the Russian Paralympic team for powerlifting FGBU FNKTSSM FMBA Russia, rehabilitation physician of the sports rehabilitation center "Mira Sport", the International Judge-Classifier in the Para-Powerlifting of the International Paralympic Committee.

The program of the Seminar covered the following issues:

• Classification basics in the Paralympic sport

• General classification issues in the Paralympic sport

• The role of classification in the Paralympic sport

• Classification code and international standards

• The main types of defeats to participate in the Paralympic Games

• Classification of athletes with musculoskeletal injuries

• Classification of athletes with visual impairment

• Classification of athletes with intellectual disabilities

• Particular issues of classification in the Paralympic sport

• Fundamentals of classification in athletics, swimming, powerlifting

• The use of classification in rehabilitation and inclusive education

After the seminar, the students were issued certificates for 16 credit units.
