Today, on the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology and the Biological Museum, a round table dedicated to the «80th anniversary of the discovery and description of a new genus and species of Selevinia betpakdalensis» was held. In the framework of the round table, participants and guests listened to the report of Professor S.Т. Nurtazin “The contribution of V.A. Selevin in the development of zoological science of Kazakhstan", the report of the chief specialist of the biological museum K.S.Musabekov “About the new exhibit “Selevinia””, by the staff members of the State Archives G.Ismailova and A.Tazhibay was presented a photoalbum dedicated to the Betpak-Dalinskaya expedition, and also a documentary film “Deep into the Unstudied Desert” directed by T.Pumpyansky (of 1938) was shown, an exhibition of the magazine «Selevinia» by V.A.Selevin and a tour of the biological museum were organized.

At the audience 214 within the framework of “Ruhani Zhanyru” a round table was held on the topic “Modern problems of biomedicine and biophysics” and “My pride is Kazakhstan”. During the round table our guest from Moscow V.P. Zinchenko shared his experience in modern biophysics and biomedicine. Students and teachers of the department discussed this topic and improved their knowledge by asking questions.

In the framework of the project "Green Campus" 2nd year students of specialty "5B011300-Biology" visited the biological clinic at the faculty of biology and biotechnology. The purpose of the tour is to familiarize students with the basic rules of working with animals in the experiment.
The staff of bioclinic showed students the conditions in which laboratory animals are kept and introduced students to the basic rules of working with experimental animals.
The biological clinic (vivarium) is a scientific and auxiliary division of our University and is created for the maintenance and cultivation of the laboratory animals used in biological researches and laboratory classes.

Senior lecturers of the faculty PhD. Narmuratova M.Kh. and PhD Konuspaeva G.S. participated with presentation in the 5th Conference of the International Society of Camelid Research and Development (ISOCARD) “Recent advances in Camelids: biology, health and production” that was held in Laâyoune (Morocco) 12-15th November, 2018.
The participation of our lecturers is financed within the framework of the scientific Program "Development of technologies for new types of dairy products based on camel milk with domestic bacterial starters" (№0118РК01326, 2018-2020 years) that being carried out at the Department of Biotechnology.
The Society holds an international conference every three years since 2006, to exchange scientific and practical information in camelid research.

Professor of the Department of Biodiversity and bioresources Sabyr Temirgalievich Nurtazin honored with the award "Top Researcher in Agricultural Sciences".
In the framework of the «Scopus Award 2018» ceremony that was held for the first time in Kazakhstan on November 14, the best authors of publications and research organizations of the country were awarded for their outstanding contributions to the development of science.
The Scopus Award is the prestigious world scientific award of the «Elsevier» International Company, which is aimed at encouraging scientists for their active work, maintaining the status of a scientist, popularizing professional scientific activity among young scientists.

Today lecturer Jumakhanova G.B., senior lecturers Shalgymbaeva S.M., Omarova Zh.S., Kegenov E.B. and Kegenova G.B. organized and held a seminar for students of the specialty “5В080400 – Fish Industry and Industrial Fishery” on the theme “Development of Aquaculture” at the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology with the participation of Professor Heimo Mikkola (Adjunct Professor at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland).
Workshop participants received valuable information on:
- Current aquaculture status;
- Acquaintance with objects of Aquaculture;
- The technology of tilapia fish farming.
