Opening the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations, Kairat Umarov, spoke about the specifics of the activities of the Security Council and the main achievements of Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the main UN body. He has highlighted that over the 2 years of stay in the UN Security Council, the representatives of our state took part in more than a thousand UN Security Council meetings at various levels.

«Achievements during the work of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council became possible largely due to the widely known, landmark initiatives of the Head of our state in the anti-war, anti-nuclear and anti-terrorism spheres. We have deserved the high appreciation of the members of the Council for our principled and balanced position on many of the most acute problems of the modern world and were able to strengthen the country's authority in the international arena», - noted Kairat Umarov.

He also shared with Kazakh students his personal experience of two-year work in the UN Security Council. He told in detail about how the first trip of the Council members to Afghanistan in the last seven years was organized, and the specifics of activity as the Chairman of several Sanctions Committees of the UN Security Council.
