Discussion of the speech of the President of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev at the World Climate Summit in Dubai

On December 11, 2023 at 14.00 in room 412. a curatorial hour was held with 4th year students of the BT20-01, BT20-02 groups of the specialty "6B070103 - Biotechnology" of the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology on the topic: "Discussion of the speech of the President of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev at the World Climate Summit in Dubai". 

The purpose of the event: To familiarize with the speech of the President K.K.Tokayev at the Dubai Summit and to attract the attention of future biotechnologists to solve global problems related to climate change.

 The curator introduced the students to the content of the speech of the President of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev at the World Climate Summit in Dubai. President K.Tokayev delivered a speech in Dubai at the World Climate Summit within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference.  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supported the UN's call to take concrete actions aimed at preserving the environment. He noted that Kazakhstan became the first country in the region to ratify the Paris Agreement and adopt a Carbon Neutrality Strategy until 2060.As a leading exporter of uranium, Kazakhstan plays a crucial role in producing carbon-free electricity. Tokayev noted that in the coming decades, the most important minerals will become indispensable as the world decarbonizes and Kazakhstan can become the main supplier of such minerals in the transition period. The President also stated that our country actively supports private "green" initiatives. He informed about Kazakhstan's decision to join the Global Commitment to Reduce Methane Emissions. President Tokayev called on the international community to allocate more funds to support the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, once the fourth largest inland body of water in the world. Kazakhstan will assume the chairmanship of the Fund next year and hopes to involve all partners in solving this issue, the President said.

 Biotechnologists of Kazakhstan should make a feasible contribution to solving problems related to climate change.
