The senior teacher of the Department of Chinese Studies went on a business trip to Rome (Italy)

Serikkaliyeva A.E., senior lecturer of the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, was sent on a business trip within the framework of the project: “Pragmatic experience of the Confucian model of development of the countries of the East: China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea”, project leader Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Aldabek N.A. As a leading researcher on the project Serikkaliyevа A.E. was sent to Rome (Italy) from December 13, 2023 to December 22, 2023. Purpose of the trip: participation as a speaker in the 17th annual conference of the Association for Central Asian and Caucasian Studies in Italy (ASIAC-2023) on topic: “Humans and the Environment in Eurasia”, as well as participation as a speaker in the expert round table “Studying China in Central Asia". The purpose of the conference is to promote scientific dialogue between scholars working in these geographical regions, from Italy and from other countries.The conference welcomes contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) history, linguistics, philology, literature, politics, sociology, archeology and geography.

During stay on the business trip, the following events were carried out: Serikkaliyeva A.E. presented my report at the 17th Annual Conference of the Association for Studies in Italy of Central Asia and the Caucasus. This conference, organized by the Department of Political Sciences of the Sapienza University of Rome, the International Association of Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, the Observatory on Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, and with the support of Geopolitica.info, aims to promote scientific dialogue between scientists working in these fields. Topic of the report: Environmental risks in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative: the case of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in joint production ventures.

On the second day of the conference, Serikkaliyeva A.E. participated in an expert round table within the conference dedicated to the study of China in Central Asia. There, scientists discussed research methodology in the region and the difficulties encountered during field work. The conference and round table brought together leading European scientists in this field. The conference examined opportunities for future joint research with the development of further international cooperation with the Sapienza University of Rome. At the moment, this trip is an integral component of the successful continuation of work in the area of project research. All subsequent days after the end of the conference, Serikkaliyeva A.E. worked in the library of the Sapienza University of Rome; over 35 sources on the topic of the project were processed.
