On October 14, 2023, an online meeting was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “Acquaintance with the Kazakh national cultural heritage and cultures of the countries of foreign university students.” The event was attended by teachers and students of the Far East Department.
On September 29, 2023, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, in the Department of Far East, under the leadership of Professor Lee Byong Jo and the advisors of the department (Shatekova G., Sermukhametova B., Sailaukenova A., Begaliyeva M.), the national holiday of the Korean people “Chuseok” was celebrated under the heading “Partnerships for Sustainable Development” SDGs.
There is one nice tradition that has existed for a while among Japanese Studies students in the Far East Department – at the start of the academic year, senior students host an evening of greetings for newly enrolled students. It is an excellent tradition that helps promote the establishment of friendly relations and respect between students.
On September 22, 2023, at the Department of the Far East (Department of Korean Studies), an event was held on the theme «Meeting between sunbae and hoobae», aimed at first-year students.
On September 23, 2023, a special musical performance took place at the «Almaty Theater» in Almaty.
On July 31, 2023, the visiting professor of the Department of the Far East of the Al-Farabi KazNU Lee Byong Jo conducted a historical excursion with students of the Department of the Far East (Korean Studies) in Ushtobe.
From July 30 to August 3 and August 13 to 19, 2023, the visiting professor of the Department of the Far East of the Al-Farabi KazNU Lee Byong Jo took part in the historical excursion program with students of Korean universities.
On July 28, 2023, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a Memorandum of Understanding on the «Korean Language Business Course» was signed between the Faraby Study Center and Global Human Resource Education Center (Republic of Korea) under the leadership of professor Lee Byong Jo, Abagan Akerke (business course executor: Department of the Far East (Korean Studies)).
A delegation of professors and senior lecturers of the Department of the Far East took part in the 11th Central Asian Scientific Conference on Korean Studies "Changing Central Asia and the new paradigm of Korean studies" on June 16-17, 2023 in Astana.
