The purpose of the established Institute of Asian Studies - a new scientific unit at KazNU. al-Farabi is the coordination and management of scientific centers operating at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, created according to a country or specific problematic principle, and then restructuring its activities for synergy of scientific research and convergence with the educational process.
At present, the oriental studies of Kazakhstan are focused mainly on the study of the Arab East, China, India, Afghanistan and Korea. The area of scientific research should be expanded to include the countries of South Asia, Central Asia, Southeast and Northeast Asia.
The IAI will develop in stages. At the first stage, all existing centers will be preserved, and in the future it will be restructured, either on a regional basis, or according to current problems and trends. IAI involves coverage of all regions of Asia - First, I need to identify a circle of like-minded people whom I will train to write scientific papers and articles that will be published in world scientific journals. Training will be provided to speak at international conferences and so on. There are also plans for this year to release a series of 10 books with the same logo and design: "Countries of Asia" about Japan, Turkey, India, China, Pakistan and the Arab countries.
We plan to unite all research centers into one independent research organization. My most important task now is to give direction to my followers and show that it is possible to do science at a high international level,” says German Kim.

The legal status of the Institute of Asian Studies will change as it develops. For the period of formation, it will act as a structural scientific subdivision of KazNU. Al-Farabi with the allocation of staff units, premises and the necessary material support. In the future, IAS should switch to self-financing.
