On September 23, 2023, a special musical performance took place at the «Almaty Theater» in Almaty. This event was organized and hosted by the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of International Cultural Exchange under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism(Корея) to commemorate the Year of Cultural Exchange between Kazakhstan and Korea. At this specially held event, traditional music and traditional songs (pansori) were performed by the National Traditional Music Orchestra of Korea, consisting of various traditional instruments of Korea, and the Kazakh side, Aigul Ulkenbaeva performed the «Mukhali» symphony on the dombra.

Professor of Department of the Far East of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Lee Byong Jo provided great assistance in organizing this event, starting in the spring of this year. As a sign of gratitude, professor Lee Byong Jo and 90 students of Department of the Far East (Korean Studies) were invited to this event. Since it is not easy to hear traditional Korean music and songs in Kazakhstan, watching this musical performance will be a special time for students majoring in Korean studies to understand Korean traditional music.
