Omirbekova Nargul Zhapparovna was born in 1954 in Almaty. In 1976 she graduated from the Biological Faculty of the S.M.Kirov Kazakh State University. She began her career in 1976-1977 as a senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. In 1979-1981 she worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. From 1981 to 1985 she studied at the graduate school of M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1986, Omirbekova N.Zh. she defended her PhD thesis and became a candidate of biological sciences in the specialty "03.00.07 – microbiology" and "03.00.04 – biochemistry".

Since 1987, Omirbekova N.Zh. has worked at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the following positions: engineer, junior researcher, researcher, assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology for educational and Methodological work, acting professor. From 2006 to 2009, she studied at the doctoral program of the Kazakh National University.Al-Farabi. In 2010, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the specialty "03.00.15-Genetics" on the topic: "Scientific foundations of the use of weak mutagens in soft wheat breeding". In 1998 he was awarded the title of associate professor, in two PhD dissertations he conducted scientific auxiliary guidance.

Omirbekova N.Zh. has more than 140 scientific and methodological works, including 6 textbooks: monograph "Ecological processes", "Chemical mutagenesis in soft wheat breeding" (2012), "General genetics laboratory manual" (2021), 20 standard programs, holder of three patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Author of scientific papers included in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

Omirbekova N.Zh. lectures in Kazakh and Russian to bachelors, undergraduates, PhD students in general and elective disciplines, experience of scientific and pedagogical work 34 years. Omirbekova N.Zh. participated in the implementation of 3 scientific projects of grant financing of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is the head of 1 scientific project of grant financing of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. To date, Omirbekova N.Zh. actively participates in the development of a new scientific direction on genetic and breeding research in the republic, in the work of international conferences, congresses (Germany, Singapore, France, Brazil), etc.

Omirbekova N. Zh. is the coordinator of the work of the Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. In 2016, she was awarded the title of "The best teacher of the University of the Republic of Kazakhstan".
