On November 8, 2018, students 1st year of specialty "5B060700-Biology" visited the Biological Museum of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The Biological Museum of KazNU was founded in 1936, first as a Zoological Museum at the Department of Zoology of the faculty of biology, and then in 1949 it was reorganized into the biological Museum of the faculty. The modern life of the Biomuseum began with the opening of the showroom and external dioramas in 1984, during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the University. The Biological Museum of KazNU is unique not only for the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also for the whole CIS.

The purpose of the tour: to acquaint students with the diversity of flora and fauna of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to foster careful attitude towards nature, to increase knowledge of students in biology.

With the support of the Erasmus+ project the lecture and practical course of Professor Pierre Vandendriessche (Head of the Food Science Department at ISA Lille, France) on the topic “Advanced Excel workshop for operations managers in the Food Industry” were held at the faculty of Biology and biotechnology.

During the seminar, participants studied the possibilities of Excel:

  - Optimization of ingredients in the agri-food sector;

  - Statement and solution of the problem using the Excel tool "Solver";

  - Construction of Pivot Tables;

  - Using Excel to visualize and track projects of various sizes.

The Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, with the support of the Erasmus+  project, on October 30, 2018, gave a lecture on “Ethic considerations of the use of animals for scientific purposes”. The lecture was delivered by a member and one of the founders of the Lorraine Ethics Committee, dealing with 26 experimental centers in Eastern France professor Stefan Jurjanz, ENSAIA, University of Lorraine, France.

 Topics that were discussed at the lecture and seminar:

      - philosophic considerations of the place of animals in the Human society;

       - animal protection regulation in the European Union;

       - the French regulation framework for the use of animals for scientific purposes;

      - The Ethic evaluation of experimental projects;

      - opponents and associations for the animal protection.

October 25, 2018 at 14: 00 at the Department of Biophysics and Biomedicine held a round table on the theme: "Psychological aspects of adaptation of freshmen to the conditions of study at the University". As a result of the roundtable were identified the following main problems arising in the adaptation of freshmen to study at the University (in descending order of their importance):

- insufficient level of school knowledge in many disciplines;

- inability to allocate their time and effort;

- unwillingness to work with a large amount of new information;

- the lack of the usual control and supervision on the part of parents, teachers;

- lack of readiness for training based on full independence;

- lack of readiness to meet the high requirements of teachers;

- the lack of some students ' diligence, willpower, and most importantly – the desire to learn.

October 14, 2018 at the Department of Biophysics and Biomedicine of the Kazakh national University named after al-Farabi students of 3 course of the specialty "5B060700-Biology" held an open lesson on the topic "Kyz tarbiesi - ult tarbiesi". The open lesson was held at the faculty level. During the open lesson, students discussed aspects and problems of education of girls. Students made presentations on age - related changes in the body of girls during puberty.
