The teachers of the Department of Biotechnology of the Kazakh National University of Al-Farabi, responsible for vocational guidance, met with about 500 students of schools of the Kapchagai city education department, told them about the specialties of the university. Most students have chosen a specialty in biology.

An employee of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Aliya Yernazarova, ran the Almaty Marathon at a distance of 21 kilometers (half marathon) in 2 hours and 16 minutes. She noted that participation in such events is charged with positive emotions, euphoria and pleasure, and called on all the staff and students of the university to an active and healthy lifestyle.

The Almaty Marathon is becoming increasingly popular, in which not only Almaty and Kazakhstan citizens take part, but also people from all over the world. April 21, 2019 was the seventh marathon which was attended by 17,000 people.

The team of biotechnology of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University celebrated the Nauryz holiday, which was held at the university. On holidays, the national dishes of the Kazakh people decorated the dastarkhan with their originality. This was facilitated by the beautiful clear spring weather.

In KazNU Al-Farabi Nauryz holiday was celebrated! The greenhouse of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology with various vegetables and fruits (strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers) was shown to the guests who came to the holiday.

As the First President N.Nazarbayev highlighted: «... the foothills of the Alatau are the historical homeland of apples and tulips» and it is quite symbolic that the holiday began with the planting of an apple orchard. Representatives of foreign Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations accredited in Kazakhstan, and prominent public figures and scholars, veterans and graduates of different years, representatives of the Media, teachers, students and their parents took part in it. They have planted more than 300 saplings of different varieties of apple trees, as well as valuable and decorative trees on campus alleys.

Al-Farabi KazNU held a huge celebration of Nauriz! Together with representatives of the Diplomatic corps and International Organizations, an apple orchard was planted. The grand event was dedicated to the biennium of the program «Ruhani Zhangiru» and the main provisions of the Elbasy’s article «Seven Facets of the Great Steppe».

A magnificent and fascinating musical and theatrical performance entitled the «Seven Facets of the Great Steppe», which is based on the article of the same name by the Elbasy, was organized in front of the Students’ Palace. The creative teams of the University have demonstrated the great achievements of the Kazakh steppe: riding culture, an ancient metallurgy and animal style, the Golden Man and the Great Silk Road, Kazakhstan as the cradle of the Turkic world – the Homeland of great thinkers and scientists, apples and tulips. The following Kazakh customs and traditions were presented to the public – «Tusau Kesser», «Shashu», «Kyz Uzatu» and others. The grand performance was ended by caravan procession and the words of blessing by Kydyr-ata! 

The team "BioRoyals" won the first place in the second round of the XI Republican subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan in the specialty of scientific (5В060700) biology.
