Nurkenov Tulendy, a doctoral student of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (supervisor - Shalakhmetova Tamara Minazhevna - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor) completed a one-year internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, USA) as a trainee.

       In 2018, he took part in a competition for grant programs, the purpose of which is to use the potential of leading world educational, scientific and industrial organizations in the field of training, advanced education and retraining of staff, as well as conducting joint research and and with a World Bank grant, he received a great opportunity to go through one-year internship at one of the world's leading educational and research centers, the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, which is one from world leaders in biomedical and medical research. The internship took place in the laboratory and under the guidance of Dr. James Lee in the Department of Bioengineering, which is traditionally strong in the fields of cell, tissue, neural engineering, bioinformatics, biomedical imaging, biomechanics and biomolecular engineering, is a part of the College of Engineering and Medicine, being one of the largest and leading medical schools of the country.

       An internship at one of the leading universities allowed the doctoral student to significantly expand the scientific horizon, to master a number of new research methods and skills, made it possible to work under the guidance and in a team of well-known scientists on unique equipment with various objects and research designs. Also, as a whole, it allowed to expand knowledge and scientific outlook, acquire and improve both theoretical and practical skills, and staying in a language environment, communicating with native speakers, and researchers from different countries makes it possible to improve language skills.

The Department of Engineering for Innovation (University of Salento, Italy) announces a competition for the candidates for students’ mobility scholarships and scientific internships in 2020-21 with the support of the project Erasmus +. The Erasmus+ Program, Action ICM (International Credit Mobility – KA107) funds scholarships aimed at supporting students’ mobility for studies (SMS) and students’ mobility for traineeships (SMT) between EU Program Countries and Extra-EU Partners Countries.

The professors of the Department of Biotechnology Gaukhar Konuspayeva and Almagul Baubekova published an article in collaboration with scientists from the URAFPA, University of Lorraine (France). The publication covers the issue of the transfer of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) to food of animal origin, which is an area of scientific interest and cooperation of scientists from the two countries. We wish our scientists continued success and prosperity in the joint training of doctoral students.

On September 11-12, the traditional annual "Fair of Organizations" was held online with the support of the Committee of Youth Organizations. The fair fully covered the freshmen of all 15 faculties of our university.

The freshmen were introduced to the youth organizations and clubs of our university, such as the trade union of students and undergraduates "Sunkar", the Public Fund "Komek", the youth wing "Zhas Otan", "Student Senate", "Student Scientific Society", "Law Enforcement Unit", "Student Bureau for the Bologna Process", "Supreme Student Council", "Enactus", "Sanaly Urpak", "Altyn Sapa", "Atameken". Excellent video records from big university projects, such as "Ana tili aruyi - Zhigit sultany", "Zhalyn", "Miss KazNU", "SSP", "The best student group", mini-football "Sunқar cup" and others were shown.

The event was attended by the chairmen of organizations of each faculty, student deans, active senior students.

The integration of science into production is always an urgent problem for all branches of agriculture. After all, it is difficult to make a technological breakthrough only by transferring foreign technologies and production lines. It should be noted that for the introduction of foreign technologies, an appropriate scientific potential is needed at the places of implementation. Consequently, the set of tasks cannot be solved without the development of science in home country, the formation of modern innovation and training centers, and the integration of science into production.

In this regard, at the last meeting of the university leadership, many problems of the fisheries sector were discussed. As a result of that meeting, the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources is currently working on a new project in cooperation with LLP "MG" @marlen_kz, @fishmektep.kz, @erlanerlan75.

We have big plans and ambitious goals ahead. I would like to wish all project participants fruitful work and good luck.

On August 25, 2020, on the Microsoft Teams platform, an online meeting took place of the teaching staff of the Department of Biophysics and Biomedicine with the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activity, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Ramazanov T.S. and Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zayadan B.K.

The main purpose of the new meeting was the introduction and acquaintance with the head of the Department of Biophysics and Biomedicine, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Professor A.M. Kustubayeva. During the meeting Kustubayeva A.M. delivered a welcoming speech and words of gratitude to the team: "I highly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you, ladies and gentlemen, and I am deeply grateful for the honor and trust shown to me!"
