Speakers of the I Central Asian Journalism Seminar on the occasion of the International Day of Universal Access to Information supported the initiative to create a media research platform. The possibility of access to information and information transparency in the field of training future journalistic staff, these and many other issues were discussed on September 27 at the first Central Asian seminar on journalism dedicated to the International Day of Universal Access to Information “Access to Information: Strengthening Academic Influence”. This event, which was attended by professors and students from Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan, Kyrgyzstan, provided an opportunity for participants to take practical part in the dialogue and exchange the latest academic experience. 

Teachers of the Department of International Journalists and Mass Media took part in international conference “Significant Quality Journalists for the Development of Society” organized by the International Journalism Centers Medianet and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.  

"The international standards of journalism of UNESCO in Kazakhstan" - the book by scientists of al-Farabi Kazakh National university Akhmetova L. S., Verevkin A.V., Lifanova T.Y. is published in Almaty by publishing house "Kazakh Universiteti".

September 14, 2019 at 11.00. In the 214 auditorium at the Faculty of Journalism, a seminar is planned with the head of the BBC WorldNews commercial representative Sergey Stanovkin.

On September 11, 2019, Qazaqstan TV channel organized a special exhibition for first-year students in the specialty 6B03201 Journalism. The purpose of the tour: to introduce students to the realities of television and the transfer of experience from specialists to the future generation of journalists.

"Kazakh universiteti" publishing house has published the 17th number of the collection " PR and media in Kazakhstan. Collection of Scientific Works "at the UNESCO Center for Journalism and Communication and the Chair of UNESCO, International Journalism and Media in KazNU named after al-Farabi society.

In the trans-boundary biosphere reserve "Big Altai" which is located in Katon-Karagai in the East Kazakhstan region, the UNESCO Cluster Bureau holds an international seminar "UNESCO Biosphere Reserves".  

In mid-July of this year, teachers of the department visited the city of Poznan, Republic of Poland. They took part in celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of one of the leading universities in Europe - Adam Mickiewicz University. 

At the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the XI Republican Forum of Young Correspondents completed its work, at which the winners of the School Essay Competition “Do you want to become a journalist?” were awarded. The competition was organized by the journalism faculty of the al-Farabi KazNU and the republican newspaper "Ulan".
