In November 24-25, 2018, the II Central Asian Journalism Forum was held under the title “Models of educational programs in journalism: the integration of professional standards” at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University. This event was organized by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Alma Mater of journalism Club of MES RK.
Academic discussions were held in the following areas: educational programs in journalism: promotion and challenges; practical competences in preparing a specialist for the media market; a new approach to the issue of the student's outlook; motivation and activation of the issue of professional development of teachers of the departments of journalism;
The forum brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deans, heads of departments of journalism of universities in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, scientists, undergraduates and doctors of universities. Forum participants discuss important issues of training journalistic personnel, the development of domestic media.
“This is a very important meeting, where, on one platform, we raise and openly discuss topical issues of media processes that are the same and characteristic in the CIS space,” said the adviser to the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on PR Mayrash Taikenova. - We care about the quality of training of journalists, who are waiting for the media market. The country needs journalists who can influence society, to qualitatively evaluate the current powerful flow of information. ” M. Taikenova noted the importance of the forum being held in the holy land of Turkestan, on the basis of Yasavi University, which is developing very successfully today, becoming a university, “where there is an active process of understanding the History of Kazakhstan, the unity of the common history of the related Turkic peoples. I believe that it is on the basis of Yasavi University that it is possible and necessary to create an Information hub, equipped, modern, powerful, with the involvement of technical and intellectual resources, which would become a powerful information and analytical center providing high-quality content for the media, universities, and the public. ”
In the framework of the plenary session, a press conference was organized on “Market-oriented educational programs: new approaches in the academic environment” with the participation of representatives of the Press Service of the MES RK and the Bologna Process Center and academic mobility of the MES RK.
The winners of the competition among students for the best material on the work of the Forum on the hashtag # IFJ2018Turkestan were identified and awarded. The cultural program of the Forum included a concert of talented students of the IKTU named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and screening of the film “Al-Farabi - Philosopher of Civilization”. A tour was held for participants and guests of the Forum on sacred sites like the mausoleums of Arystan Bab, Ahmet Yasawi and the old cities as Otyrar and Sauran.
