Distance learning at Universities of Kazakhstan
The recent global pandemic is changing everything we got used to. It has already changed our way of life and now it is changing our way of studying and teaching. It is no doubt one of the most significant events of the decade as it put an end to the “old fashioned” way of learning and teaching and pushed us to find new educational challenges and overcome them. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is proud to be able to continue providing its students education of high standards and introduce online platform for optimizing the process of the study. Online teaching has been put into a process in no time. Everything is there to make sure that the course program is covered. Teachers prepare and carry out interesting online lessons and conferences. The system of monitoring the whole process is in place. Students’ works are commented on and they are challenged with new tasks once they submit their previous assignments. The majority of students have been quick to pick up on the flexibility of online learning. The same can be told about our teachers who also acknowledge the flexibility that comes with online learning/teaching, which they’ve never used before.
Our university along with online course teaching has also introduced its student to Netiquette. Netiquette means “good behavior” when using the internet. Every student got Netiquette guidelines to follow.
Many students haven’t even thought about online education before, now they know it’s not scary at all and they can pick up more online courses once quarantine is over. The skills that they have improved and the limits that they pushed will make a significant impact on their future learning.
Al-Farabi National University will provide all support needed for its students to help them meet whatever challenges 21st century might have prepared for them!
