International Relations of TURKSOY Department

The TURKSOY department is one of the departments that has established international relations at our university and has achieved significant development indicators in this area. International relations, which began with the creation of the department, are based mainly on the scientific and pedagogical activities of the department, established by universities and research centers of the Republic of Turkey and continue to operate till this day. External relations with Turkish universities are increasingly based on academic contacts, scientific and creative activities. Currently, the Department works under an inter-university agreement with more than 30 universities in Turkey.

Since the scientific and methodological work of the Turksoy Department is directly related to Turkey, it works closely with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Astana and its consulate in Almaty. Relations with the Turkish Embassy are one of the key indicators of international activity. The department works with international organizations and associations created between Kazakhstan and Turkey. In particular, they cooperate with such large international organizations as the TOMER language center, the embassy of the Republic of Turkey, the International Kazakh-Turkish Educational Fund (KATEV), the Turkic Agency for Cooperation and Development of Peoples (TIKA), and the international organization TURKSOY.

Since one of the scientific and pedagogical directions of the department is Turkology, close relations with the Turkic republics were established at the department. In particular, there is close cooperation with universities of autonomous Turkic republics, including Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. This mainly concerns the study of language and literature, the culture and history of Turkic peoples. In addition, teachers of the department work closely with universities in the near and far abroad, such as the Russian Federation, the USA, Germany, Iran, etc. Such contacts are held on the basis of joint scientific conferences, round tables and seminars, and master classes.
