Research center “Written monuments and spiritual heritage”

Since 2017, the research center “Written monuments and spiritual heritage” at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of KazNU named after Al-Farabi conducts research, analysis and examination of ancient manuscripts and books.

The main goal of the Center:

  • Search, sorting and cataloging of manuscripts distributed in the Kazakh steppe;

  • Development of a comprehensive study of national values ​​and spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people in various fields of science: such as history, literature, ethnography, religion and sociology.

Main tasks of the Center:

  • Collection and creation of a fund of manuscripts written in Eastern languages (Arabic, Persian, Chagatai) found in the territory of Kazakhstan;
  • Development of sectoral index of manuscripts that can serve as a basis for research in history, ethnography, archeology, philology, literature, philosophy, religion, oriental studies, turkology;
  • Study of manuscripts found on the territory of Kazakhstan, their introduction into scientific circulation;
  • Through these works, the promotion of Kazakh history, literature, language and culture at the world level, the promotion of Kazakh science through written monuments is aimed at creating works.
