EP purpose

The purpose of the educational program is: training a specialist with in-depth knowledge in the field of ichthyology, hydrobiology, aquaculture, protection of aquatic biological resources and industrial fisheries professionally proficient in foreign languages; Specialist who can analyze and manage natural and artificial populations of aquatic animals that can perform the functions of an ichthyologist and fish breeder in state and interstate bodies and institutions that can conduct research in the field of aquatic biological resources.

Educational outcome

ON2 Has deep theoretical knowledge in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, uses the basic laws of the functioning of aquatic ecosystems in practice, assesses the impact of various economic activities on the formation of natural water products. He knows the theoretical foundations and practical methods of organization of hydrobiological monitoring, regulation and reduction of environmental pollution; is Able to determine the value of primary and secondary products in artificial waters.

ON3 Applies in practice skills on reproduction and protection of fish resources, rational use and management of water bioresources, uses the inventory of fishing objects, trade statistics; conducts control of fishing activity and monitoring of water bioresources; applies methods of ecological regulation in fishery.

ON4 Applies in practice the legislative and regulatory legal acts regulating questions of protection and rational use of fish resources in RK; reveals cases of poaching fishing on reservoirs and takes measures for suppression of the facts of violation of rules of conducting fishery; is competent to estimate and analyze the volume of the caused damage as a result of intensive activity of the person. substantiates the need for environmental monitoring in water bodies.

ON5 Develops biological justification in the design of aquaculture enterprises; has the skills of biological justification of technological schemes of growing objects of industrial aquaculture; owns Biotechnics of breeding and growing various aquatic organisms, applies the knowledge gained in scientific and practical activities. Understands the features of adaptation of fish to different environmental conditions; applies -alpha,-Beta, -Gamma technology; owns the theory of controlling; Owns the basis of marketing and the concept of logistics; calculates the cost and economic efficiency of the enterprise.

ON6 is Capable to apply modern classification of fishes in practice; defines criteria and indicators of a condition of water biological resources; reveals the reasons of diseases of fishes. It is able to calculate the types of food, the length of trophic chains and the direction of the production process in artificial reservoirs. Reveals the relationship between the laws of growth of hydrobionts and environmental factors; owns the basic physiological methods of analysis and evaluation of living systems;

ON7 Carries out different ways of conducting fisheries on reservoirs of various ecological and fish-breeding zones; owns methods of studying of quantitative signs; genotypic variability; traditional and genetic methods in selection of fishes, estimates genetic processes in populations; Owns cytological methods of studying of heredity, reveals features of the hybridological (genetic) analysis. To participate in the development of biological studies of the optimal parameters of fishing, total allowable catches, catch forecasts, fishing rules; has the skills to repair and install fishing gear, assess the wear and durability of fishing gear, is able to organize the process of industrial fishing in inland waters.

ON8 is Capable of analytical thinking, logic, analysis, scientific substantiation and creative solution of problems in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, has the skills to collect, systematize and summarize primary data in the field of diversity and status of aquatic biological resources; preparation of reports, publications, references and analytical reviews on professional activities, abstracting texts, implementation of fishing, conservation and aquaculture operations;

ON9 Reveals the patterns of fish ontogenesis of different taxonomic and ecological groups, applies the obtained knowledge in scientific and practical activities, owns the methods of embryological studies. He is competent in the field of modern methods of accounting for aquatic biological resources, fisheries, aquaculture and the protection of certain species and ecosystems.

ON10 Reveals the main indicators in population biology: Makes recommendations for commercial fishing of hydrobionts on the basis of the analysis of their population structure, owns methods of research of dynamics of number of populations of hydrobionts. Classifies animal bioresources,

owns methods of reserves assessment and control over the state of resource species, populations and communities;

ON11 Uses methods of identification of commercial fish; carries out the analysis of biological, trade and biological parameters of exploited species and populations, makes the map of commercial investigation of fish, Conducts scientific researches on the allowed water ecosystems, has knowledge of ecology of water ecosystems and some laws of their functioning.

ON12 is Able to independently plan their professional activities, conduct research, prioritize, comply with deadlines, write scientific reports and recommendations.

Academic activity

The academic activity of the OP is carried out:

- within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodological recommendations in the field of higher education in the field of agricultural sciences;

- as a result of the implementation of regulatory documents regulating the educational and methodological process at the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

- current and prospective planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (UMKD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- monitoring the provision of the educational process with teaching materials, documenting the results;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

To obtain the qualification "Master of Agricultural Sciences" according to the educational program "7M08401 - Fisheries and industrial fisheries", a master's student must:

master theoretical disciplines according to the curriculum (84 credits);

to complete a foreign internship according to the individual master's plan (3 credits);

complete a teaching internship (4 credits);

complete a research internship (9 credits);

to make at least one scientific publication on the topic of the master's thesis in KKSON journals at least the 1st publication, to write and publish scientific publications in international conferences (4 credits);

conduct scientific seminars on a research topic once each semester, only 3 times (3 credits);

write and defend a dissertation (12 credits).

A total of 120 credits are mastered by a master's student for a 2–year period of full-time study, of which 84 credits are allocated for theoretical training, 24 credits for internships and internships, 4 credits for writing scientific articles, and 12 credits are allocated for writing and defending a master's thesis.

Scientific activity

To implement the educational program, the department has scientific laboratories in the following areas•

Research and Production Center: "Aquaculture and fish diseases";

Collection - formalin room for invertebrates and vertebrates, where about 500 species of animals are collected.

The department also has scientific - school seminars, where undergraduates, doctoral students and young teachers report on the results of their scientific work.

Undergraduates and doctoral students in the specialty "Fisheries and industrial fisheries" annually go on a scientific internship abroad.

International activity

The department's partners in the Master's degree program of the specialty "7M08401 - Fisheries and industrial fisheries" are foreign universities and institutes with which agreements on academic mobility and cooperation have been signed: Institute of Cytology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Laboratory of Cellular Pathology (Russia), Laboratory of Pharmacological Research.

The Department has its own branch on the basis of Zoology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Quality assurance (Accreditation, rating, work with employers)

• In 2016, the Master's degree specialty was accredited by the International Accreditation Organization ASIIN (Germany) for 4 years, the license period is from 2016 to 2020.

• In 2021, the educational program successfully passed the republican accreditation of KazSEE for 3 years: from 2021 to 2024

Rating of the educational program

The specialty of Fisheries and industrial fisheries participated in the rating of NAAR (Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating) and NCAOKO (Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance in Education) for 3 years from 2015 to 2017 and according to the results of the rating held leading positions among universities that train undergraduates in a similar OP: in 2015, 2016 - 1st place, in 2017 - 2nd place.
