EP purpose

The program is aimed at training highly qualified biologists with professional and personal competencies, research and analytical skills, fundamental knowledge in the field of general biology, ecology, biomedicine, biotechnology, which will allow them to effectively implement and apply their knowledge and skills in research, environmental , medical, sanitary and epidemiological, agricultural, educational institutions and industrial enterprises.

Educational outcome

Upon completion of this educational program, students are expected to be able to:

1. Demonstrate systemic fundamental knowledge in the field of general biology, cellular and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, and biotechnology during research, development of innovative technologies, including educational practice of higher education using information technologies;

2. Improve the level of scientific biological research through the widespread use of modern methods of processing, biometrics and interpretation of scientific data in the field of botany, zoology, cell biology, embryology, molecular biology, bioengineering;

3. Systematize, develop and plan, critically evaluate scientific research and theory in the field of biology, biotechnology, ecology, medicine, education and solve problems at a professional level;

4. Interpret and systematize scientific theories and concepts of modern areas of biology for use in the selection of initial theoretical positions in the creative solution of problem situations in educational, methodical, scientific, industrial activity;

5. Implement scientific and scientific-technical programs and projects in the field of biology and related fields of activity for solving practical problems of medicine, agriculture, ecology, biotechnology; 

6. Carry out interdisciplinary research in the field of biology, chemistry, physics, ICT, medicine, agriculture to create new drugs, strains of microorganisms, varieties of agricultural plants and animals, GMOs; 

7. Design and carry out comprehensive research based on the scientific worldview, mastered research technologies in the field of biology and biotechnology, using modern computer technology, software products for implementation of independent biological research;

8 Build research activities based on the principles of bioethics, guaranteeing the scientific reliability of the results, conservation and protection of biodiversity, human rights and health;

9. Develop a scheme of the experimental stages of semi-production and carry out the technological processes used in the fields of biotechnology and biology on their basis;

10. Review and evaluate scientific products in the field of biology and related fields, such as ecology, medicine, agriculture, biotechnology.

Academic activity

Academic activity of the EP is carried out:

- in the use of general scientific methodology, logic and technology of conducted research, skills in planning research and its results in various forms of scientific production;

- in the use of foreign languages ​​to the extent necessary for the implementation of professional, research and educational activities;

- in matters of organization, planning, conducting all types of professional activities;

- in all aspects of professional activity related to biology;

- current and long-term planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

For the implementation of the educational program, the faculty has laboratories:

1. Ecology of microorganisms .

2. Ecological and genetic monitoring of biogeocenoses.

Scientific schools or scientific directions of the department, (scientific projects):  in the high qualifications of teachers and the international level of research, as well as a constant influx of young specialists, existing scientific schools are developing and improving in various fields of biological science, for example, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor A.A.Zhubanova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor T.M.Shalakhmetova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor S.T. Nurtazin, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor N.M. Mukhitdinov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor S.T.Tuleukhanov are prominent specialists in the field of cell biology, histology, ecology, physiology, genetics, and biotechnology. Under their leadership, research on biomorphology, ecotoxicology, bioindication of the state of the environment, the identification of cellular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and the search for neuroprotectors, which are known not only in Kazakhstan, but also far beyond its borders, are being successfully carried out. All scientific research is carried out in the laboratories of 2 scientific research institutes: SRI of problems of biology and biotechnology and SRI of problems of ecology.
