on March 14th, 2024, when the whole country was celebrating the beginning of the year, Amal holiday, the Faculty of Oriental Studies received wonderful news. Nabizhan Mukamethanuly, professor of the Department of Chinese Studies, director of the Center for the" Study of Modern China", was recognized as worthy of the title of "Honored Academician" of the National Academy of Sciences. On March 15th, by order of the National Academy of Sciences, academicians Mambet Koigeldy and Hangeldy Abzhanov paid a special visit to the Faculty of Oriental Studies, shared joy with these people. Professor Duken Masimkhanuly, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after R.B.Suleymenov, also came. This event is a significant event not only for the Department of Chinese Studies, but also for the Faculty of Oriental Studies, KazNU, and for the domestic science of Oriental Studies in general. The specially organized meeting was attended by the leadership of the faculty of oriental studies, heads and deputies of the department, staff of the department of Chinese studies, students of Nabizhan Mukamethanuly, doctoral students and master's students.  Natalya Borisovna Em, dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, opened and conducted the meeting. The guests spoke in turn and told interesting and instructive memories about the life path, scientific work and achievements of Nabizhan Mukamethanuly. One of the most important moments of the meeting was the presentation of the "Honored Academician" certificate of the National Academy of Sciences to Nabizhan Mukamethanuly by the two specially arrived academicians. We wish Nabizhan Mukamethanuly, who has made a great contribution to the science of domestic history, great success in the field of science, good health, and high honor!
