On November 13, 2023, on the basis of the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, a city workshop on simultaneous translation was organized under the guidance of Professor Daulet F.N., who teaches the disciplines "Innovative technologies and methodology of teaching translation" and "Modern translation concepts" for doctoral and undergraduates of the first year of study at the department. The purpose of this seminar is to generalize and implement the pedagogical experience of Professor Daulet F.N., as well as to familiarize everyone with the theoretical foundations and practical examples of the use of innovative methods of simultaneous translation. The main part of the workshop was attended by students of the professor, undergraduates of the 1st year of study Wang Linlin and Sadenova Alima. Wang Linlin spoke about the features of simultaneous translation, the important professional skills required by a simultaneous interpreter, the features of translating texts with cultural content, translating political terms, verbs, as well as external problems that arise during simultaneous translation. Sadenova A. carried out a sequential translation of the lecturer's speech, while demonstrating the style of this one of the most complex types of interpretation. Working together in a collaborative environment is a great way to develop the activity of undergraduates, change the way they think, develop social and moral skills: the ability to work in a team, make a group decision and be responsible for it, strive to gain new knowledge. It was the results of such joint work that were demonstrated by the professor and her students during a scientific workshop. The seminar was attended by teachers, undergraduates, doctoral students of the department, as well as guests from other educational institutions: Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, The International Academy of Business and the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College. The seminar participants noted that such scientific workshops strengthen the status of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as a research university.
