Today, the ZOOM online platform honored the laureates of the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science Award "Science Leader" - 2020, among which the scientific achievements of regional universities were noted for the first time.

Web of Science Award "Leader of Science" - 2020, designed to support and highlight the achievements and potential of Kazakhstani science. The nominees for the award were selected based on high rates of publication activity and citation of authors in the Web of Science Core Collection database.

The scientific works of scientists on a global scale are assessed by scientometric indicators of publication activity and citation based on data from the international information and analytical platform Web of Science.

- al-Farabi Kazakh National University - Leader in the number of publications in the Web of Science Core Collection in the subject area "Physics" over the past 3 years among the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the "Highly Cited Kazakhstani Author" nomination:

In the subject area "Physics" - Alibek Issakhov, Head of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Professor of al-Farabi KazNU. Under his authorship, 36 articles have been published in top-rated publications with a total number of citations of 285.

An independent award "For contribution to the development of science-metrics and evaluation of scientific activity in Kazakhstan" was awarded to the director of the Center for Physical and Chemical Research and Analysis Methods of KazNU, Professor Bulat Kenesov. He has published 37 scientific papers in publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection database.
