Within the framework of the project of distance media education "Multimedia Journalism School" a webinar "Multimedia Storytelling" is being held, organized by the Faculty of Journalism. The main task of the project is to promote familiarization of students with the modern media space, substantiation in it, as well as to promote their becoming a multimedia personality. Training to work at any level, both as a journalist and as a user. Formation of skills in searching for information in the Internet space, analyzing this information and its application.

The year of 2020 was remembered not only as the year of the “pandemic”, but also as the “Year of Abai”. The anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly was celebrated by almost all higher educational institutions of the country. One held a scientific conference, the other celebrated the legacy of Abai with poetry events. In this direction, at the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University has been organized republican aitys "Olen-sozding patshasy", where among young poets a student of the specialty "Publishing" Nurbol Zhauynbayev won the Grand Prix.

The Department of Print and Electronic Media of Al-Farabi KazNU, within the framework of the Week of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL), with the participation of representatives of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, conducted advanced training courses for teachers “Media and Information Literacy” on the critical topic  “Counteracting disinfodemia: media and information literacy for one and all ”.

On November 13, 2020, the Department of Publishing-editing and design art of the faculty of Journalism of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has organized an international scientific and practical online conference "Current Issues and Challenges Faced in publishing industry”. It was organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the scientist-bibliographer, publisher, editor, candidate of Philology, associate Professor Konyr Mukatayeva.

Journalism occupies the place of the “fourth estate” in the unofficial hierarchy, but at the same time it is among the most dangerous professions. The relevance of the problem of guarantees and support for ensuring the safety of journalistic activities was devoted to an introductory online meeting on the safety indicators of journalists jointly by the Adil Soz International Foundation for the Protection of Freedom of expression within the framework of the approved project of the International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC) “Kazakhstan: Improving the Safety of Journalists”.

On October 29, 2020 at 11.00, an online conference "NATIONAL JOURNALISM: RESEARCH AND PROBLEMS OF EDUCATION" has been held in the E. Shaimerdenov auditorium of the faculty of journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in honor of the 70th anniversary of Namazaly Omashevich Omashev, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Director of the Institute of Journalistic Research.

October 8, 2020 - Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Journalism of al-Farabi Kazakh National university for the first time took part in the solemn online presentation of the book "Beyond Journalistic Norms". 

Recently, a photo expedition was organized in the Mangistau region, organized by the regional akimat and the Department of Investment and Tourism Development.

The 1150th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker, the outstanding scientist of the East, Abu Nasir al-Farabi. Graduation Day of the Kazakh National University is an academic tradition. On May 30, 2020, the Department of Press and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism continued this indestructible tradition in an online format. The meeting at the Department of Press and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism was opened by the head of the department, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Gulmira Sultanbaeva, who congratulated the graduates of the department. 

    Maintaining ties with graduates is an integral part of the ideological and educational work of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  As the recognized in worldwide educational space the leading Kazakhstani research center of Al-FarabiKazNU closely monitors the fate of his graduates who are actively involved in the social, scientific and educational life of alma mater.  Meetings of graduates held annually on May 30 - a good tradition of KazNU, they bring people together, fill their hearts with good feelings.  This event, which is now online, this year is dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the great scientist of the East - Abu Nasyr al-Farabi.
