Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in 2024. On March 1, Thanksgiving Day, an evening was held in memory of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, public and statesman, Honored Scientist of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Technical Sciences, founder of the National Academy of Engineering, Professor Omirbek Aryslanuly Zholdasbekov. During the period under the leadership of Omirbek Aryslanuly, the National University achieved particularly great success in the field of science and higher education among universities and higher educational institutions of the Union of Soviets, became the center of education and science of the Union, and also became a real classical university.

In front of the monument to the rector, who headed the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for 16 years, his students, colleagues, descendants and young students gathered in his footsteps.
