International scientific and methodological conference "Turkology in the modern world"
In the 17th of November 2017, the faculty of Oriental Studies of Al Farabi Kazakh National University bwas held the scientific-methodological conference "Turkology in Modern World " organized by TURKSOY department, International Organization TURKSOY, A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics and Istanbul University.
In the conference took part the deputy of embassies and consulates of the Turkic-speaking republics in Kazakhstan and representatives of Turkic-speaking cultural centers of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan where were discussed the problems of language and literature, history and culture of the Turkic people. Also in the conference participated well-known national and foreign scholars engaged in research in the field of Turkic studies.
At the conference was held a scientific discussion on the transition of the Kazakh language into Latin, voiced in the article of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev "A look into the future: modernization of public consciousness" and the peculiarities of using the Latin alphabet in other Turkic-speaking republics.
The Türks, who used the runic writing in ancient times, went to Arabic graphics with the advent of the religion of Islam. Turkic written monuments of the middle Ages created on the schedule used by the Turks over the millenium. It is known that at the beginning of the 20th century as a result of various events some Turkic people went to the Latin alphabet and others to the Cyrillic alphabet. In the last quarter of a century the Turkic countries, which are struggling to go along with the developing countries, are going to the Latin schedule. Obviously, this step will serve the spiritual integrity and unbreakable unity of the Turkic people.
