"My poems will live forever..."

Teachers of the Faculty of Philology and World Languages of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the competition: Makatayev’s readings: «My poems will live forever,..» which took place in Almaty. It was organized by the Center for gifted children and talented youth: “Almaty Daryny" and the Department of Education Almaty city and was supported by Akimat of Almaty City according to the message of the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev «Course towards the future: spiritual rebirth»

February 9, 2021 is considered as a remarkable date. It is the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, Mukagali Makatayev. The poet left a great literary heritage. He wrote over a thousand poems and prose works. He also translated the works of world classics into the Kazakh language. In honor of the significant anniversary date, Makatayev’s readings were held.

“... Mukagali's poetry reflects the national character of Kazakh people. His mysterious poems were able to move the hearts of many readers. The poet's jubilee coincided with the 30th anniversary of our Independence. This is an anniversary holiday for every Kazakh family, ”Tokayev wrote about it on his Twitter page on Tuesday.

The purpose of the competitions was to reveal creative abilities of participants and spark their interest in literature, culture and traditions of Kazakh people and the work of Kazakh writers.

Participants: schoolchildren of 5-11 grades.

Languages: Russian, Kazakh.

The competition was held on February 9-11, 2021 and more than 500 people took part in it.

The jury paid attention to the readers’ artistic skills, their ability to get deeply into the character and to render the text main idea and the quality of the participants’ speech from viewpoint of language norms.
