The future of any state is educated youth. Today's age is a living image of the future of Kazakhstan. Without a doubt, today's previous wave is a growing youth who is following in the footsteps, replacing the older generation. The further development and prosperity of the country, prospects directly depend on the youth. This is the essence of the idea of a just Kazakhstan. The main concept in the article of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "Independence is most precious" is justice. "We strive to create a just society and an effective state. In any case, if we are guided by the principle of justice, then we will clearly achieve this. To this end, on November 15, 2022, the curators-advisors of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry organized the project "We are the youth of a just Kazakhstan!" a round table was held. Recently, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an intellectual game "League of chemists", organized by the faculty of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry. The purpose of this event is to increase the intellectual level of students studying in chemical, chemical-technological and other technical specialties in the field of physical chemistry.

This year the event was attended by representatives of several universities in Almaty, such as:

1. "Young Lomonosovites", KazNITU named after K. I. Satpayev,

2. "SuperNova", KazNITU named after K. I. Satpayev,

3. "Pharmacists", KazNMU named after S. D. Asfendiyarov,

4. "SDUdents", S. Demirel University,

5. "Boltzmann", Al-Farabi KazNU

6. "Entropy", Al-Farabi Kazakh National University,

The game consisted of five rounds:”video acquaintance”,“video questions”,“guess the word”,"Blitz tour",”practical task". Organization, discipline, cohesion of players, speed and quality of task completion, activity of players, attentiveness, correctness and clarity of answers, chemical literacy, ability to argue are the criteria for evaluating participating teams.

The competition began with a brief video presentation of the teams about their university together with the head of the group and the head.

Video questions were compiled by teachers and professors of the department, which the participants answered after a two-minute discussion.

During the third round, the teams were shown 4 images that found a word to summarize the picture.

The most difficult thing was that on behalf of all the participants there was only one student who answered the questions asked through the Kahoot app.

So, the Treasury teams were distinguished by the most original and accurate answers. After several rounds, by the decision of the jury, the teams of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "Boltzmann" and "Entropy" took first and second places, respectively. The third place was taken by students of the University named after S. Demirel.

On November 12, 2022, Nazarbayev University hosted the VI annual scientific conference "Youth Chemistry Conference 2022" in the field of fundamental, applied chemistry and chemical engineering for young students and specialists. Being a platform through which students of chemical specialties and aspiring scientists will be able to present their research papers and discuss promising areas in science.

This year the conference was held under the theme "Novel Approaches in Chemistry: From Fundamentals to Applications". In addition to students, the conference was also attended by foreign professors with guest lectures.

A 4th-year student of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the specialty "Chemistry", president of the student section "Al-Farabi KazNU SPE" in 2020 Timurkyzy Azhar (supervisor – Associate professor of the Department Akbayeva D.N.) took part with Al-Farabi KazNU.

Azhar presented her ideas in the field of alcohol oxidation research with catalase encapsulated in a Cryogel matrix. Azhar received many insights and recommendations for further work.

Master students of 2022 graduation under the educational program "7M07201- Petroleum Engineering", Baizhunusov Kenzhebek and Makhambetov Akhat were trained in two diploma programs, together with the University of Lorraine, France, Nancy, in the period from 10.09. 2021 to 02/10/2022.

As they noted, during the two-degree program, they gained a lot of experience, exchanged knowledge with foreign classmates, improved their skills with special software, as well as improved language skills and acquired good professional qualities.

Professor Qamar Abbas is a well—known scientist in the field of hybrid supercapacitors, battery electrodes, nanoporous carbon, graphene and 2D materials for environmentally friendly energy storage.

He is the author of more than 60 scientific papers published in journals with a high impact factor, such as "Nature Communications", "Carbon", "ACS Applied Energy Materials", "Materials Science and Engineering: R: Reports". He is the author of 11 patents, monographs "Catalytic Kinetics" (Elsevier, 2015) and "Catalytic Kinetics: Chemistry and Engineering" (Elsevier, 2016). Professor Abbas has presented his research at more than 47 international conferences as a plenary, keynote speaker or invited speaker. He is currently managing two Austrian projects. Head of the laboratory - Laboratory of Functional Design of Nanocluster Polyoxometallates.
Research area: Supramolecular design of polyoxometallates (POM) and hybrid materials for photocatalytic applications and biocompatible hydrogels. The key aspects of the work are related to the production of covalent ensembles of Keplerate POMS with organic dyes (xanthene and oligopyrrole: fluorescein, BODIPY, porphyrins) and molecules of different nature (fatty acids, aromatic compounds, amino acids, etc.) through click reactions.
Field of scientific interests: 
- Supramolecular chemistry;
- Surface functionalization;
- Photophysics and photochemistry;
- Vibrational spectroscopy.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology Department of Physical Chemistry Catalysis and Petrochemistry invited prof. Qamar Abbas will hold lectures between November 1 and 30, 2022 on the broad topic of electrochemical energy storage and materials chemistry. Taking into account the vast research and teaching experience of the professor, as in various European universities, lectures and practical classes on these main topics were held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. These lectures were aimed at providing guidance and advice to graduate and doctoral students, as well as faculty members.

The professor was also invited to a local school near Almaty, Al-Farabi Specialized Lyceum, Almalybak, to give a motivational speech to the students. After a brief introduction to his biography and accomplishments, students curiously asked many questions about his scientific career, life in international research groups, and scientific collaborations. They also asked why Dr. Qamar Abbas chose chemistry as his field of study, to which he replied because he had enjoyed chemistry since his school days. In general, this trip was very informative for students and staff of the school.

We invite you to the lectures by Professor Thierry Djenizian from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Etienne (France) in the period from November 2 to 27, 2022 on the topics "Electrochemical power sources (EPS)" and "Writing of scientific manuscripts".

As part of the internship, 3rd year students of the educational program "6В07201-Pharmaceutical Production Technology" had an excursion to the pharmaceutical plant of LLP "Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm".

The results of the VI International Book Competition "The Best Young Scientist of the Commonwealth of Independent States – 2022", which is organized and held annually by the Scientific Congress of the National Movement "Bobek" in Kazakhstan, have been summed up. It was attended by undergraduates, academic teachers from many universities of the country and other republics of the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and other countries engaged in scientific research in their chosen areas of science.

Among those who this year received the title of "Young Scientist of the Year - 2022", a special diploma and a medal of the competition, as well as a certificate, a 1st-year master's student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Hasanova Akerke Serikkalievna. Following the results of the competition, her scientific article on the topic "the importance of smart deposits in oil and gas production technology" was published in the scientific journal "Bobek". The scientific supervisor of the work is Doctor of Philosophy PhD, acting Associate professor of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of our university, lecturer-scientist Igembayev Ideyat Bolatovich. This victory is also a great achievement for our university.
