The Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers trains specialists for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies in the educational programs Chemical Technology of Organic Substances, Technology of Pharmaceutical Production, Chemistry. The department has 57 lecturers, including 13 professors, 15 associate professors and 22 candidates of chemical sciences and PhD. The disciplines are taught in Kazakh, Russian and English. Representatives of the industry (employers) and leading professors from foreign universities are also involved as teachers. The department graduates specialists in the field of chemistry and technology of organic substances, natural compounds, polymers, pharmaceutical production technology. The practice bases for students are “AimLab” LLP, “WARDA STAR” LLP, “SIKA KAZAKHSTAN” LLP, “DOSFARM” LLP, “ConsultAsia” LLP, “Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm” LLP, “Eleas PFC”, “BIRUNIFARM” LLP, “EcoPharm International” LLP, “VIVA PHARM” LLP, “Pharmacy No. 1” LLP (prescription and production department), “Amir and D” LLP (pharmaceutical production department), “Dorplastinvest” LLP, etc. On the basis of the department there are a research center for medicinal plants and a research institute for new chemical technologies and materials (NChTM). As part of the commercialization of the scientific research results, pilot production lines for the production of herbal medicines, polyester resins and solvent-free acrylate paints were launched. The international cooperation of the department covers various universities of the world in the USA, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Russia, etc., where students and teachers undergo scientific internships and conduct research work. Joint international research laboratories were opened at the University of Rostock (Germany) and at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences at the University of Karachi (Pakistan).
