Opening of the Chemical Faculty

1934-1938 Founder and first dean of the faculty was academician of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences A.B.Bekturov. He initiated the invitation of young talent from the major cities of the Soviet Union.

1934

Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry organized. Department was headed by academician of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences A.B.Bekturov, corresponding member of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences B.A.Beremzhanov, professors N.N.Nurakhmetov, R.Sh.Erkasov, M.M.Burkitbaev, G.V.Abramova, A.I.Niyazbaeva, now head is Ph.D. B.M.Uralbekov.

Department of Analytical Chemistry organized. Department was headed by M.I.Saenko, academician of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences M.T.Kozlovsky, professors A.I.Zebreva, T.Z.Ahmetov, M.K.Nauryzbaev, D.H.Kamysbaev, now head is H.S.Tasibekov

Department was headed by I.Ya.Grigorenko, I.I.Shtakelberg, academician of the Academy of Sciences of USSR N.N.Vorozhtsov, corresponding member of KazSSR Academy of Sciences I.N.Azerbaev, prof. T.K.Chumbalov, corresponding member of KazSSR Academy of Sciences A.Sh.Sharifkanov, professors K.H.Tokmurzin, T.M.Turehanov, Sh.S.Ahmedova, S.H.Alimzhanova, K.B.Erzhanov, G.Sh.Burasheva, Zh.A.Abilov, now head is prof. G.A.Mun.

Department of Physical Chemistry organized. Department was headed A.N.Nikishin, N.A.Bushmakin, L.I.Shtifman, academician of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences D.V.Sokolsky, A.I.Shlygin, corresponding member of USSR Academy of Sciences A.V.Dumansky, academician of of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences M.I.Usanovich, E.K.Pichugina, professors H.K.Ospanov, D.H.Kamysbaev, M.K.Aldabergenov, now head is E.A.Aubakirov.

1938-1944 Dean of the Faculty – academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR N.N.Vorozhtsov.

1944-1946 Dean of the Faculty - corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the KazSSR I.N.Azerbaev.

Department of Technical Chemistry and Catalysis organized. Department was headed by Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR D.V.Sokolsky, K.K.Dzhardamalieva, academician of NAS of RK K.A.Zhubanov, D.Sc. E.A.Aubakirov.

1946-1948 Dean of the Faculty – academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR M.I.Usanovich.

1948-1950 Dean of the Faculty - professor A.I.Shlygin.

1950-1953 Dean of the Faculty – academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR M.T.Kozlovsky.

1953-1954 Dean of the Faculty were S.T.Omarov, K.A.Krupennikova.

1954-1980 Correspondent member of the Academy of Science of the KazSSR B.A.Beremzhanov worked as a Dean of the faculty for 26 years. Under his leadership, 6 departments and problem laboratories organized, the level of education in the faculty occupied on third place after MSU and LSU in USSR.

1957

1958

Department of Chemistry of Rare Elements organized. Department was headed by corresponding member of the Academy of Science of the KazSSR O.A.Songina, professor V.A.Zakharov, N.S.Sharipova. In 1995 merged with the Department of Analytical Chemistry.

1958

classes began to be conducted in the Kazakh language

1963

Department of Macromolecular Chemistry organized. Department was headed by academician of NAS RK B.A.Zhubanov, E.M.Shaikhutdinov, E.E.Ergozhin, professor Z.S.Nurkeeva, G.A.Mun. In 2011 merged with the Department of Organic Chemistry and Chemistry of Natural Compounds.

1971

Department of General Chemistry organized. Department was headed by H.D.Muldagaliev, U.F.Omarova, academician of NAS RK E.A.Mambetkaziev, prof. A.G.Sarmurzina, Zh.R.Toregozhina. In 2011 merged with the Department of Inorganic Chemistry.

1971

Department of Chemistry of Natural Compounds organized. The department was headed by professors T.K.Chumbalov, M.S.Erzhanova. In 1995 merged with the Department of Organic Chemistry.

1972

Department of Colloid Chemistry organized. Department was headed by prof. K.B.Musabekov, S.M.Tazhibaeva. In 2011 merged with the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemistry of Rare Elements.

1972

Laboratory of physical and chemical methods of research organized. Laboratory was headed by academician G.I.Ksandopulo, professors Z.A.Mansurov, S.H.Aknazarov. Now head is O.Yu.Golovchenko.

1973 New building of the Faculty built on the Vinogradov street.

1975

XI Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry held in Alma-Ata.

1978

Faculty seventh time won first place in the inter-faculty socialist competition and received the Red Banner for permanent storage.

1978

Department of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion organized. Department was headed by academician of RATS G.I.Ksandopulo, professors B.Ya.Kolesnikov, Z.A.Mansurov. Now M.I.Tulepov manages the Department of Chemical Physics and Material Science.

1980-1983 Dean of the Faculty - academician of NAS RK E.E.Ergozhin. Subsequently worked as the first vice-rector, rector of KazSU, and under his leadership, the university had organized 11 scientific and educational research laboratories, built four high-rise dormitories, commissioned a sports complex.

1983-1987,

1995-2000 Dean of the Faculty - Professor M.K.Nauryzbaev. Under his leadership, created a model of professional, model of curricula and state standards of bachelors and masters chemists, as well as in "chemical, forensic and environmental expertise".

1987-1995 Dean of the Faculty - Professor K.B.Musabekov. Under his leadership transition began training with 5-year-old to 4-year, SRI organized.

1988 Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Center SHS organized, in 1991 transformed into the Institute of Combustion Problems. Founder and first director was academician of RATS G.I.Ksandopulo, directors were prof. T.A.Ketegenov, S.H.Aknazarov. Now general director is prof. Z.A.Mansurov.

1992 Research Institute of New Chemical Technologies and Materials organized. Founder and first director was an academician of NAS RK K.A.Zhubanov. Now director is prof. S.N.Kalugin.

1995 Centre for Physical and chemical methods of research and analysis organized. Organizer and director is prof. M.K.Nauryzbaev. Directors were prof. B.Ya.Kolesnikov, G.D.Zorov, K.S.Baishev.

2000-2009 Dean of the Faculty - Professor Zh.A.Abilov. Under his leadership, created more than 15 State Standards in various areas of education, laid the foundation for the formation of a multi-level system of education.

2005

training doctors of philosophy PhD started.

2009-2010 Dean of the Faculty - Professor M.M.Burkitbaev. Under his leadership, the faculty moved to a new building in KazNU city.

2009 President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev opened a new building of the Faculty in KazNU city


2010

2011 Chemical Faculty renamed to the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, departments enlarged, the groups with the English language learning opened.
