Specialists in the field of chemistry and chemical technology are among the most highly paid and popular on the labor market. Development and introduction of new technologies in any branch of the economy is not without the help of such specialists. All kinds of industry (chemical, oil refining, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, construction, agrarian, etc.) and the production of all kinds of goods require the training of chemists and chemical technologists.

Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Al-Farabi KazNU is one of the first faculties of the university, opened in 1934. The faculty occupies a separate 5-storey educational building, has 2 research institutes. Training is conducted in 3 (State, Russian and English) languages ​​on the basis of 70 laboratories of 5 departments and 4 computer classes equipped with modern equipment. Specialists are trained by highly qualified teachers and employees of enterprises, including 45 doctors, 85 candidates of sciences and 40 PhD. All educational programs for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies are accredited by ASIIN (Germany). The faculty trains specialists in double degree programs with the Belgorod University, Chinese University of Petroleum, University of Taipei, University of Saitama (Japan), D.I. Mendeleyev Russian Chemico-Technological University, Ufa Petroleum Technical University. The undergraduates are trained at the Universities of Lyon-1 (France), Valencia (Spain), Poland, Romania, etc.

The students of the faculty are trained in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and metallurgical industries such as Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, Atyrau Oil Refinery, CNPC-Aktobemunaigas, KazPhosphate, KazTransOil, ZinKaz, DorPlast invest, Zerde-Fito and others.
