In the period from 13.02.23 to 15.02.23, the third (Regional) stage of the Republican Olympiad in general education subjects among republican educational organizations (ROO) took place on the basis of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School of Almaty. It was attended by associate professor of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Candidate of Chemical Sciences Badavamova Gulzhan Lukpanovna (chairman of the jury on the subject "Chemistry") and PhD doctoral student of KazNU Kalyeva A.R. (member of the jury).

This week, from 04/13/2023 to 04/15/2023, within the walls of our faculty, lectures on Physical Chemistry for students of the educational program "Technology of Pharmaceutical Production" were given by colleagues from the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Rakhmatullaeva M.M. and candidate of biological sciences Associate Professor Azimova B.Zh.

On April 14, the "Open Day of the Faculty" was held for students of grades 10-11 of the gymnasium named after Akhmet Baitursynov, Zhambyl region, Shu.

On 14.04.2023, the Department of "Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemicals" held an online conference with the aim of "Career guidance work" with some regions of Kazakhstan (Kyzylorda, Abai region, Zhambyl region, Almaty). The event was attended by several school leaders and students who got acquainted with the university, faculty and departments, received answers to topical questions.

On April 13, 2023, as part of the closing the II International Farabi Forum, an award ceremony was held for the best young scientists of NJSC Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology on April 12, 11:00 am, the qualifying round of the student league of the international engineering championship "CASE-IN", organized by the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry, was held. The qualifying round was attended by 7 teams from 5 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan: al-Farabi Kazakh National University, NJSC "Toraigyrov University", M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. I. Satpayev, West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University named after Zhangir Khan.

The team from the Kazakh National University of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology "Troil" (Team Leader - PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry - Toshtai Kainaubek) took first place. The team got the opportunity to represent the University in the final of the Championship, which will be held in Moscow on May 30 - June 1, 2023.

On April 12, 2023, within the framework of the Science Day, the Science Foundation organized a specialized dialogue platform "Technology Commercialization Reactor" on the basis of the Astana International Financial Center.

A wonderful tradition and a great opportunity for young people to discuss their results оn April 6-7, 2023, the International Conference for students and young scientists “Farabi Alemi” was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology.

The conference is organized annually, and is an excellent start for many scientists and specialists, it allows discussing the results of the work of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates. The work of the conference was divided into 8 sections. Oral and poster presentations were presented in Russian, Kazakh and English. The conference was attended by both students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of KazNU, and from various universities in Almaty and other cities of Kazakhstan and the CIS countries.

In the first section “Modern aspects of catalysis and petrochemistry” (section leaders: Doctor of Chemical Sciences Abildin T.S. and Ph.D., Professor Sassykova L.R.) 16 oral and 2 poster presentations were discussed; 1 report (from Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebaev) was presented online. 3 oral presentations were presented by students of Suleyman Demirel University. Diplomas for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places were awarded to 8 oral presentations and 1 poster presentation on the most relevant and promising research. Among the winners are bachelors of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of KazNU (supervisors: Professor Aubakirov Y.A., Ph.D. Vassilina G.K., Ph.D. Kudaibergenov, Ph.D. Tostay K., Doctor of Chemical Sciences Akbayeva D. N., Professor Kairbekov Zh.). All conference participants received certificates of conference participants.
