On December 9, 2022, the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the Historical Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a seminar "Current problems of professional training of archivists and document specialists in the digital age". The seminar was attended by teachers of universities, secondary specialized educational institutions, employees of city and regional archives, students and doctoral students. During the seminar, the following reports were discussed: "The main directions of the topic of graduation papers in the specialty of Archival science and documentation in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan" (expert of the AP RK Nurgozhina G.B.); "Problems of training specialists-archivists-documentologists at the present stage" (Coordinator of the educational program in the direction of "Archival Science and documentation" KazNU named after Al-Farabi, Candidate of Historical Sciences, associate Professor Alpysbaeva N.K.); "The view of the youth archivist for the future" (Doctor of Historical Sciences, acting Professor of KazNU named after al-Farabi Yskak A.S.); "Development of the North Kazakhstan State Archive: the role of personnel in the development of archival activities" (Deputy Director of the North Kazakhstan State Archive Ibraeva I.A.); "Features of training specialists in archival studies at the Kazakh-American Free University" (Associate Professor of the Department of Law and International Relations of the Kazakh-American Free University, Ph.D. P. Turova); "Features of the training of specialists in working with scientific and technical documents" (specialist archivist of the highest level of the Central State Administration of the STD RK A. A. Tursunalieva); "Cooperation of the college and archives in the training of qualified specialists" (teacher of special disciplines of the Almaty Multidisciplinary College, teacher-researcher G. S. Zhumakova). During the seminar, the main problems in the training of document archivists were discussed, in particular, the decrease in the number of educational grants allocated to the specialty of document archivists in recent years, the need to develop industry qualifications frameworks, professional standards in the areas of "Archival business" and "Documentation management", the interest of young people in the profession, etc.
